Fear mongering I'll cop, but fantasy?

It's both a) well within his power, as stated, and b) there are a number of examples of leaders overturning term limits (before Putin came to power, there were term limits in Russia; same with Xi) when given the power to do so.

This reeks of "I don't want to acknowledge you have a point, so I'm going to try and put you in a box so I can ignore you" to me.

Fair point.

One pretty good reason for this type of result.

You go on almost any major social media site and it's dominated by conservative shows, accounts, comments and engagement. Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter it's a landslide. Reddit and Instagram are more mixed, not sure about tik tok, never been on it. I'm not doubting there are bots but even without those, it's an area the left lags behind
Haha, what the hell? Forums like this, Whirlpool and Reddit have been left wing echo chambers for the past 6 months.

Maybe check out r/pics on Reddit about all the democrats desperate to show everyone they voted Democrat.

There’s going to be such a rude awakening for trump supporters over there when Project 2025 is in action

Oh well they can’t say they were warned

Just quietly at the very least the mass deportation and Tariff will send inflation through the roof
Yeeeeaaaaannnaaaaahhhhh. More scary bedtime stories from Democrats.

No, answer the question.

Say, on the edge of a whim, Trump decided to remove term limits. He has control of both houses. He has control of the supreme court. He has reshaped his party in his image.

Say, he takes it into his head that he should be president for life. Makes sense; he idolises Putin and Xi and wants what Kim Jong Un has. What's stopping him from doing it?

Presidential terms are limited by the Constitution. An amendment may be proposed by a two-thirds vote of both Houses of Congress, or, if two-thirds of the States request one, by a convention called for that purpose. The amendment must then be ratified by three-fourths of the State legislatures, or three-fourths of conventions called in each State for ratification.

If anyone tries to get around it, the armed forces step in.

In short, it ain't happening.

The claim is playing on fear, uncertainty, doubt, much like the hyperbole the he is Hitler incarnate, will start WW3, and he has ended democracy. Nobody outside left wing bubbles believe any of it.

Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy seems optimistic about the second Trump Presidency

Last time those two spoke he got impeached. Donny surely has his number on block?

And Bigfooty SRP echo chamber still manages to be to the left of Reddit on certain issues (e.g. Voice to Parliament).
Wouldnt call this a echo chamber to be fair

SRP board is more of a when you got to do a fart, you go to bed, tuck yourself in, you let it rip and then put your head under the covers so you can get a long lasting whiff of your own brand.

The are more homeless people everywhere in the burbs the last few years where there never was before. We're sleepwalking into America.

I think that's partially true and the financial imperative is a problem.
But also we are teaching people to complete courses without teaching them how to analyse and think and in particular how to spot deliberate misinformation in the media and from PR companies and politicians, so people don't ignore it when they should.

We attempt to. The problem is multifaceted. And technology definitely has had an influence and not always in a positive way. Have been in the profession for two decades and the differences between when I started and today is frightening.

He's actually ordinary.

People are just very stupid and by and large illogical.
No ordinary person coats himself so effectively in Teflon and wins the US presidency twice. Those idiots needed to be persuaded. Why has he achieved this while so many others failed? I don't think Trump is necessarily smart, but he evidently has something special.

Where to from here? The Democrats will need to put up someone against whoever the GOP nominates for 2028 - looking like Vance, all things being equal. Gavin Newsom? Josh Shapiro?

Had a chance this time round and they blew it. Shapiro is from PA, they NEEDED PA.
