I think our overly progressive tax system is bad. I think far too much of our money finds its way back to government. I think that that encourages profligrancy, waste and a culture of disrespect by our public service about our money. I think that leads to debts that taxpayers have to cover. In other words it leads to what the likes of Dan Andres and Jacinta Allan have done to Victoria

But that’s not what you said initially

If you have an issue with a progressive tax policy just say so

No, I picked a number that represents the average, so therefore appropriately relates to the majority.

You clowns focused on the absolute outlier in one tail of the distribution (probably not on purpose, it was clearly your ignorance on display yet again).

You're losing badly, but hey, I'm happy to keep telling you why you're wrong if you want to keep digging.

See this, THIS sort of judgemental, assumptive faux superiority is why you lot keep losing elections, and you'll lose another one soon federally and then another one in Victoria. How dumb can you be to keep acting the same way and Not.Get.It?

Most of the govts in Australia are Labour. They will have been in power 12 years by 2026 in Victoria, which is a long time for any govt. The way of things in Australia, is we turf parties out who we deem to be in too long, and that is driven by people non-ideological looking for change and give someone else a go. Nothing to do with any culture war nonsense.

So this apparent judgemental stuff has racheted up since 2022 in Vic and Australia wide which will cause people to run to conservative parties? Thats a pretty nutty argument.

Its like some sort of magic eye image, people often look into the results of an election and just see what they want to see as for the reason why it occured.

I think you under-estimate the depth of anger against the Andrews-Allan autocracy. They are dead in the water, nothing to do with "its time", but everything to do with their divisive politics over many years. As for Federal election its Dutton's to lose.

No but people claiming that knowing that makes thenm somehow superior is definately something an elitist would do.

Haha, Trumpism in a nutshell. Argue about something that they don't properly understand to support an unsupportable policy viewpoint. Keep doubling down and further demonstrating lack of understanding.

Finally realise they didn't understand the facts after all, and get sooky about it. Call the ones who do know the facts "elitist". Very amusing, "well, I didn't know the facts so it's mean of you to point them out and make me look ignorant".

Trumpies literally only want to hear versions of facts that justify their support for the orange turd. They make superficial arguments and generally get away with the factual misrepresentations because people are tired of arguing against ignorance. It's valid for those who know facts to correct misunderstandings of others, in a general sense. Unfortunately, it becomes pointless to keep having to do it when misunderstandings are wilful.

And that's a big reason as to why the orange turd has been elected, and why the millions of disadvantaged essentially voted for a reduction of their social security and healthcare and an increased cost of living, whilst the likes of Bezos and Musk pull billions more from tax-funded US government coffers.

I think it is more the it's time stuff, and with Dutton he will benefit from the same factors Trump did to win (cost of living), that is my prediction.

I just don't see it as some sort of rejection of left leaning values as the right seem to tout any election win as being. Mind you the left do it too, but no party in Australia ever seems to be out of power in any state for that long.

Huh?
The problem isn't that there is a Federal ban, the problem is that due to Trump's actions, by 'sending to the states', is that states are banning / restricting abortion at a state level.

He himself has claimed credit for this, and I do "thank" him for that.
I think that's a great result though. A much more democratic result. Noting the massive shifts in values in the US, i think it is good that people in Alabama can't tell people in California what to do on abortion and vice versa.

Who was that guy that predicted like every presidential winner in the last 40 years? Haha wouldn’t be picking the phone up right now
Lichtman, yeah? Unfortunately he became and still is a Dems Member which of course means he was a shill for his party. He was way too deep with them to see things objectively anymore.

So basically if Trump doesn't do anything he says he is going to do, we will be ok.

I feel relieved.
Yeah I don't feel relieved.

Like I said, for trump to act on his what seem to be wishes isn't just sign off into action, I'm going to fairly assume it will be debated in parliament and not just passed without opposition.

In saying that, that all depends on what sort of nutjobs hold influence in the senate and HOR. Normally I wouldn't be so concerned but it looks different now given the types trump has surrounded himself with.

Then they are mistaken.

He literally has over and over stated this is what he wants to do.

It doesn't really matter what the majority view is. He wants to do it.
You know i respect you Sam, so maybe it's best if we just leave this discuss here.

States rights in the US has been a major, major issue. Dating back to before the Civil war. I forget who said it, but I remember hearing someone describe the US as not one country, but a collection of 50 city states. So true.

Pseudointellectualism at its finest. You really believe I don't understand a simple table like the one for income tax?

I'm glad google has helped. Should have used it first instead of jumping on the bullshit assertion that most people are working 3 days out of 5 to fund tax.

The support for tariffs over taxation might have some merit if the average tax rate is unreasonably high, say 60% or more. But a 60% rate literally doesn't apply (in the US or Australia) even with indirect taxes, so the argument becomes disingenuous. If you have a different reason for supporting Trump, feel free to state it. But don't use lies to justify his horrible policies.
