Since you just said you are interested in sport, professional sporting events are traditionally more expensive to attend in Los Angles compared to some of the Middle American states and cities - Texas, New Orlenes, Albuquerque.

If you are just interested in going, I'd look at getting tickets in those states as you will pay fair less and look at teams that are not doing so well, tickets will be far cheaper as well. I guess the Lakers are the exception to the rule and they are still quite pricy.

What sports are on in the April/May/June period?

Pretty much just baseball, as far as regular seasons go.

The NBA regular season wraps up in mid-April, with the playoffs then going until early-June. I think the NHL follows a similar time frame. The NFL runs September to January.

EDIT: Doubled up with Barney_stinson there :) ... and yeah, I forgot about the MLS (March - December)

Clippers tickets aren't as expensive as Lakers ones, even though the latter are currently a worse performer.

Get to MSG to watch the Knicks if they are in town while you're there. Put on a great show.
The Knicks put on a good show? You must be talking about the pre game entertainment as they are shit on the court :D

Recommend doing the tour of MSG.

Best pre game entertainment I have seen was at the Amway Center for the Magic game. Clippers pregame entertainment is abysmal but they are a fun team to watch.

Ice hockey is the best sport to watch in the States hands down. Does not matter if you have not seen much on tv here. It has the best atmosphere.

Agree.

They close down streets, put up barricades to allow kids to run around outside with bouncy castles and other stuff like that. The Orlando Magic put on a very good family event inside and outside of the stadium.

They also set up courts outside the arena with the street that they close down. Was lucky enough to see double OT match between the Magic and Thunder in late October 2015. Westbrook banked a 40 footer to send it into OT on the buzzer and then Oladipo hit a 3 on the buzzer at the end of the first OT. The place was going nuts.

I think I went to a 40 point magic loss to Miami in 12'

James, Wade and Bosh say the final quarter. But it was still very good and entertaining.

IMO - I enjoyed Orlando much more than Miami. Miami gave me the impression it was plastic, fake and not real.

Both cities are built on tourism and the tourist dollar but I found Orlando much easier to get around and a much more enjoyable city to actually live in. They had plenty of space to live (Unlike NYC and many east coast cities) in and have a house. Not an apartment or condo.

International drive was very easy to find something different to eat at and get to and from with or without a car. Public transport was very good.

Time Share Properties

Anyone planning on going to Orlando, Vegas or Miami.

You will come across a 'timeshare consultant' and they are slick, smooth talking sales people who offer the world but deliver nothing. They make these outlandish promises to get to to turn up and you lose an entire afternoon and end up with sweet **** all.

They will say you can get $250 in cash, 2,3 or 4 free tickets to a state show and $300 in food vouchers.
The $250 is poker chips that can not be cashed out and you never win. The machines is rigged to never get into the positive.
The show tickets are for shows that no one ever wants to go to and you can only ever get single seats, so you can not sit together anyway and the food vouchers onlt cover 25-30% of your bill.

Totally not worth it and they are scammers.

Don't get sucked in!!!!

I watched them beat the Bulls in 10' on Christmas day. It was the year that Rose won the MVP He ripped it apart and Stoudemire was on as well.

Great atmosphere and experience.
