Not sure about St Bernards but I think the key is that De La and St.Bede's both have junior footy clubs. Xav's, St Kevins and the like; boys play junior footy at school.

I think its more of the point that boys grow up playing on the weekend for the school affiliated side and therefore are more likely to play senior grades when school finish's.

Correct ypu'll probably find the kids all play with local clubs, but that still doesn't preclude the OP's in working hard to try and get them to the U19's etc.

I have been playing in the 1's this year king. We are travelling nicely at the moment sitting 3rd on the ladder with a 4-2 record. As we know, its only early stages so far. Still a long way to go. But we are hoping to make finals, but who knows with the young side we have this year. We currently have 17 year olds playing and 1 15 year old. We all know how young blokes are in senior footy. Form can wane from month to month, even week to week.

Are you playing this year?

I think your refering to Dion Ciavola there pigmy, not Dean. Dion left the GVFL early lat year, got politely asked by his club Kyabram to leave, got into a fight with a few of the players at the club during a function. He is currently involved with a club in the EDFL. I wouldnt say Dion was a dirty player though, he got the most out of himself as a player, did have a nasty ankle injury in about 2002 which slowed him up as a player, but he does know how to find the footy. He doesnt mind a verbal argument on the field and is known to have a few dust ups. Why do you want to know for? Which club are you involved with back in Melbourne?

Urple, do start telling the truth please. Couple of weeks ago, you asked a big footy scribe who spoke about Dion "Dion who? Who is Dion?" Couple of weeks later you attempt to tell us his footy life story, as above indicates. To me you told me you were not playing footy this year, cause of work. Now you are telling us you are playing in the 1's at Euroa!
You seem to know too much about GV, DV (NFL), and the OP's, not to be Dion. Maybe you are his lover? I don't know. Perhaps you may even be his bro Sab. Anytime you wanna throw a straight ball, instead of the crap you have been, and stirring up trouble in the past, is fine by me.
Have a good day. Were you really the best paid 'forklift driver' in Vic, during your time at an A-grade team in the Ammo's? ? ? ?
Brian take note........

sounds like you've sorted those back problems out that has plagued for the last couple of seasons, and agreed on the young blokes call however it's the best way to re-build football clubs, especially country ones at that.

been out of the game for a few seasons now due to work commitments
Yeah, I think the back problems are well and truly gone, at least for the time being anyway.

You ca keep guessing looker, at the moment you are totally wrong in your predictions. But I like it that you are doing some research on my great self. Keep up the work, maybe one day you will figure out who I am. By the way, most other users have worked it out. Maybe your just a bit slow.

Unfortunately North of the Yarra, you are wrong here. My school report was bit higher then that. I didnt get the best marks, but I know I never got a D. Keep trying though.

Interesting that when you were face to face with some of the Parade boys on Saturday Night you were very apologetic and sheepish. I think the quote was something like, 'Gee I am sorry, I am only joking.' Not to brave to their faces when you had the chance to tell them what you think.

Nice Cut and Paste. And you said that you could do it. Stick to finger painting.
Yes, I didnt do it correctly, I really stuffed up, but hopefully with a little practice I will get better at doing the cut and paste. Come to think of it, its a bit like your footy team, They say they can play footy, but results tend to show otherwise. But if they follow my lead with the cut and paste, they just might improve with a bit of practise. Then again who Im kidding, OPs have no hope of improving even if they trained every night.

I was face to face with a few of the Parade boys on Saturday night and I remember the converstaion quite well. I didnt apologise at all, as I have nothing to apologise for. But your right, I did say Im only having a bit of fun and joke with this thread. I also said that you boys need to get a bit more thickness in your skin, if you are taking an internet forum so seriously. You just need to lighten up. From memory as well on Saturday night, a few of the boys, said they didnt really take much notice in my comments but arent to happy with someone else comments, anmely overtheline. Checks facts first please North.

A different story from what I have been told. Apparently you were backing off as fast as could be. From your above comments you are simply on this forum to stir up trouble. You had your chance face to face and didn't take it. Get over you Old Paradians bashing and go stir up trouble somewhere else.

Well you have been told utter lies by people involved in your club. In fact I only spoke to 2 players from Parade and thats it. One of them was his 30th and he is not to fussed by what I wrote. I wasnt backing off at all, I was barely in the same area as the Parade boys as I had other friends there as well and was off talking to them majority of the night. I do try and stir trouble elsewhere, but no one bites back like the boys from Parade do. Is that saying something.

Dear Big Footy posters,

As you are all aware OP bashing is a favourite pastime of many on this forum and while for most of the year I have vehemently defended my beloved footy club I seem to be continually falling on deaf ears and am seemingly going no where. I have sat back in frustration the past couple of days as more and more comments come through, some fair enough and other’s complete unfounded crap.

Anything we ever say will probably never be reasoned with but I've gotta try.

So in an effort to be fair and balanced in the defence of my club I offer the following true/false reasoning in where OPs currently stand:

True:
The seniors haven’t had great form and Saturday’s game against YV was very poor in standard and something we weren’t happy with.

Yes we have lost a lot of players, probably 10-12 from last year including our top 3 B&F winners and other very good players. Some left because they didn’t want to play D1 (even though they contributed to us getting there) and others simply aren’t playing at all. None that I know of have left bitter.

We have a lacklustre relationship with the College, even though they often produce good footballers. We have tried to mend this relationship but it comes down to a principal who has no sporting interest, gives nothing at all to the club, won’t even let us use the ground that we built ourselves and wouldn’t care less if it ceases to exist.

We currently have an average playing age of less than 21 in the seniors. Average games played would be not even 30, that’s with a 360 gamer in the side. We’re busting our gut to earn back some respect and play good footy but with a new list it’s often difficult.

The feeling and resolve around the club is the best it has been for years and will hopefully ensure the sustainability of our current list for the next 3-5 years.

We enjoy a very good relationship with St Damiens and have their colts train with us often as well hosting social events for them.

False
The club is in no way struggling financially to the point of extinction. Take from someone pretty close to the subject that things are healthy and pointing upwards.

I-footy, when you mentioned why we didn’t appoint M.S and, given you meant Mark Spinoso, I think you will find he IS our hard working coach who has retained and recruited a lot of good young kids.

St Mary’s are not affiliated with any club, including ours. We keep contact with them and offer a good club for their young kids to come to.

No letter was ever sent to the under 19s telling them they will not play senior footy for the next two years. That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard and even double checked with all the guys to make sure. We have played number of unders already this year and will continue to do so.

We have never (this year) proclaimed to be world beaters and had never said we would waltz in to finals and therefore offer no excuses for losses. We are the definition of a club re-building and with young guys getting some more confidence and our injury plague becoming stabilised we will hopefully only get better.

Boundy, while a great player, didn’t win us the game on Saturday In fact he probably wasn’t in our best players (despite what the VAFA website says b4 u all jump in!).

I could go on forever but the fact is we all can see OPs are at their lowest point. However there is sufficient support, given it is a club that has been around for 80 years, to see it moving forward again in years to come. It will take time, it will take patience and it will take persistence and it won’t happen tomorrow.
But I am confident, with the determination and character of the young fellas, that it will happen!

Urple, Over the line, Blind Turn, i-footy, u-18 insider etc I would expect nothing less than for you guys to come back with another cheap shot but so as long as you know that that is where we officially stand and I will back the reputation my club every time! I hope you guys aren’t so shallow as to want a proud club to fall to its demise. Bag it as much as you like but just know these are good people giving hours and hours of their time to rectify the situation.

Hopefully my mini-essay will now allow other topics will now return to this forum.

Let's move on.

Cheers, V&C.

Good luck ugly on your 250 Games of senior VAFA football. I think you may be up against a 360 games player this week.

Q; Is there any Ex VFL/AFL Player that has played more games of senior football in the ammos?

TQM

Good Luck juice man, the practice match we played against you suggested to me you are not far off. I just don't understand posters who achieve jack trying to rubbish opposition clubs.

Yeah good luck on 250 games- great work-
Who has played 360??? Very few would do this without including junior games.

Also very sick of Parade bashing- yes they bite back- but it makes a very boring thread-

Great effort on 250.

As for other AFL players, Jon Stevens (Old Ivanhoe)?

Peter Brabendar (Plugger) has played roughly 360 games, not 1 game in the reserves though

congratulations uglie derm!! everyone says the best player to play at bulleen temp ever! and from what ive seen i cant argue against that at all.. would hated to play him in his 'younger days' (sorry mate but i had to say it) and still the best player on the ground and dare i say enjoying his football more than ever!
great achievement mate, you have the respect of everyone at the club for sticking with the bullants and is the reason why all the 19's are pushing through now!!
from your mate judda ;)

Kenyan, you are a star. Well done. Could have easily chased the big $$ when you came back to The Ants from St Kilda.

Will catch you at the "Nest" before the game. Dee Snr says a big congrats too.:thumbsu:

Well Done Ugly. Geeves suggested baking up some special cookies for the occassion, but i told him you weren't playing at Gordon Barnard Reserve on Saturday, hence we wouldn't see you.
You will have to drink a few cold ones instead after a 6 goal BOG and winning performance.
Cheers,
DG
