I'm well aware that Tim is getting on in years! Just a figure of speech...

"Han Solo" is Japanese for self-help isn't it?

Any A Grade movements, players or coaches?

Collegians coach Hawkins to coach in A Grade again with Marcellin or Trinity.

McKee might be heading planning on staying in A Grade at another club as SKOBs go down.

The Champ from Trinity is retiring.

Dean Rice moving on at OM's?

You forgot Walsh (OT) to Collegians and Ramsden (OT) to Bulleen Cobras as previously mentioned on this forum! ;)

However, the Champ's retirement is correct (though he will surely be invited back to spearhead our assault on the Club XVIII flag next year!!)

Not sure what the coaching moves will be with Taps getting one on the shoulder at Scotch as well - might put another experienced magnet mover into the mix. Also heard Calthorpe may wish to move upwards or onwards, but that was a pretty flimsy whisper anyhow.

As for players, there'd be many a club secretary shoring up their list at respective presentation nights, etc. Looking for key players to commit to 2006. Still a promise in October is worth little when February swings around.

Ultimately, your best recruiters in Ammo footy are the current players themselves, so it's time to tap into the network out and start getting into a few blokes' ears!!

Are you talking Keilor Hill's coach Dave Calthorpe?

He'd suit the "soft", "weak as ********", "bunch of girls" players of A Grade.

Interesting that you say Hawkins is moving on. Had lunch with him the other day and said he is staying at Collegians.

Hi guys,

I am a Fitzroy Reds supporter from who lives in Bendigo. I have had major interest in the VAFA this season but I have never really followed the Amateurs.

What will the jump from D1 to C grade be like for the Reds. here do you predict they will finish? I see Uni Blacks won the league and they had just been promoted the previous season.

I love how there is a great promotion/relegation system which keeps the season exciting. Do you think it takes away from the grand final a bit when 2 teams are promoted. I was excited when reds won the 2nd semi as I knew that was automatic promotion!

Also I know there is no money spent on players but reading different posts on this thread leads you to think otherwise. Just curious to here a few opinions as I have really enjoyed closely following the Ammos.

Would love it if Bendigo had a team in there! Is that ever possible? :)

Won't be long before the Reds is a Bendigo team. ;)
There is a fair bit of support from the Bendigo region for the Reds (playing i mean).
Starting to challenge the likes of NOBS as a recruiting ground.

Yes I admit I might be stretching it with Ockleshaw, and my suggestion of Donati was based more on the dollars that he is getting in the Eastern than anything I have heard about Xavs. I stand corrected on those two points.

Han Solo Credibility = 0

You just seem to rant little boy.

Reds were a standout in D Section and will probably be around the mark in C Section. I expect they will make the 4 and perhaps be promoted with a few recruits. I don't think C section will be overly strong this year and a good opportunity for both NOBS and Reds to win it. BENNY MOF and St Bedes Mentone will be the hardest to beat i think.

NOBS and Reds both have a healthy Bendigo contingent, though we are now alligned with Ballarat.

thanks for the reply mate. Can you tell me how many players you have from Bendigo and how many the reds have from Bendigo. Can you name them if possible?

Do you think the VAFA will eer open up to regional areas. With the VFL an AFL reserves with no team loyalty the VAFA has a chance to be the premier league in Victoria! Would teams travel to regional areas to play games?

Travelling to Whitefriars and Mazenod is bad enough.

No chance would anyone travel to Bendigo.

T
he VAFA did not mind us changing our name to North Old Boys-St Pats Ballarat and Old Geelong play in D Section, but they play out of South Yarra.

That i know have Reds have:
Vinny Cahill
Nick Evans
Tom McBurney
Ian McBurney

Nobs have about 8 i think but it is hard to remember who comes from where as everyone at nobs is from the country.

There is plenty of players from Bendigo playing in the VAFA, Blues have a few as well and Ryan Colbert played in Xavs Premiership.

All the NOBS topline players come from Bendigo. There is Josh Mahoney and his brother Alphonse and ...... oh wait did I say topline???

Fair enough. I didnt think it would be viable to have a team in Bendigo.

I would like to learn about the teams though and who to hate from a Fitzroy Reds perspective.

Can we start with the A grade teams? Who can give me a rundown? :)

Old Xaverians - Hated by all, very ordinary arrogant blokes.

Old Hailebury - Pack of a/holes, feral supporters and feral players.

Old Trinity - Think they are a lot better than they are, and Lincoln Reynolds plays there, although apparently retired.

St Kevins - Sooks, whingers, full of excuses, and Nathan Pope plays there.

I hope that's a start.

Now with Sholly as head with many other Xavs and others from Catholic clubs on the VAFA Executive, there would be no chance of even getting them investigated.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sholly knew stuff was going on. Had him as a teacher at St. Kevin's and he was dodgy as all. His brother did something underhand at Collingwood...

I don't think player payments are widespread but getting jobs for VAFA players is. That is the only reason McKee chose SKOB.
