If these cases continue....,,I understand a lot of cases today were in isolation but 13 were not.
I think it will be tough to get a finals season completed before September :(

I am crossing my fingers

The year is absolutely not done. There's still 2.5 weeks to the proposed first final and potentially another 2 weeks after that to play the first final if they reduce it to 1v4,2v3.
Government won’t allow local sport until we are back to zero community cases for at least 2 weeks. They opened up too early in late July and won’t make that same mistake again.

So unless we will start a constant run of all cases already being in isolation within just over 2 weeks…..

The season is over.

Mr Fund, the Government would be removed from power by the Governor General if they kept us inmates in jail for two weeks of zero cases, impossible in this day and age.

Not suggesting the lockdown as it stands continues that far, but the loosening of restrictions will be conservative and won’t allow for community sport to return prior to late October.

Dan thinks he can do whatever he wants to. The GG would not kick him out, in my opinion. Mr Fund is correct, he will be very cautious bringing us out of lockdown this time. This harsh lockdown will last for another two weeks, then if we get zero community cases for a week some restrictions will ease. Community sport will not be back on the agenda for at least another six weeks at this rate.

You just guessing community sport will not be on the agenda for 6 weeks? Or u have some inside info?

I would agree.

Remember, when we came out of stage 4 in 2020 (with curfew lifted and 5km extended), it was early October. We hadn’t had more than 20 cases/day since 24/9, yet cricket didn’t start up until late November.

Using a similar timeline, we drop the curfew in early September, cricket commences in late October. No community sport in between.

I had no inside info, but I’m just trying to look at it logically. 🙃

We didn't have a vaccine then and also the whole tracing system is so much better . The trouble is NSW it will keep getting out of there , in just a few days the ACT and NZ have cases multiplying .

Yeah - that’s absolutely true but given the national agreed position is that lockdowns are necessary unless/until 80% of the population are fully vaccinated, and we all agree that won’t be until after November, it’s not going to make much of a difference on state measures in the next 6 weeks

Pretty sure cricket started later because CV agreed to push the dates back to allow for the football season to run in October.. Then the footy season was cancelled but the dates for cricket remained..

Sad time for BF, Hipp. You seem to have lost your edge maestro. No bites this time or a previous post. For Gawd sake lift man. OTP will lose his tsk tsk touch.

A message from 'Bear'.

Tough ask for clubs to be ready to go when they won't have trained together for some 8 weeks.

will practice hard over the off season AM.

Done and Dusted I’m afraid.
VAFA is 6 weeks from being given a green light if all goes semi well from now. So many of today’s numbers were floating around whist infectious.
2022 will be huge.
See you all then.
Hipp

Sadly Hippster, you are correct. Given the past 2 days case numbers, and specifically of those, the numbers infectious whilst in the community (13 yesterday and 25 today), there is zero chance we will come out of lockdown in time to complete this years finals series. Sadly, we are trending upwards at the moment - we have to hope we first stabilize first then slowly trend down. Remember it was only a week ago we had "stabilized" at around the 20-25 mark but now we are going up again.... This will take time, too much time for our season.

The next question will be, how to decide a premier (if there's even a possibility). Personally, I would make it like soccer and have the top of the ladder team crowned premiers.
As for relegation and promotion, I'm open to suggestions. I think it should remain an option that clubs can nominate.

A sad day for us local football lovers indeed.

Maybe all hold your powder for 10 days, the health officials said it would spike for a few days this week, as quite a few positives were 13 days tests , so they now stay of the streets .

Can not see them letting local sport return as soon as we come out of lockdown. One of the clusters has come from local football club.

GI, to put this in perspective of the 55 local cases announced today, 13 are from a new cluster in Broadmeadows, people are infectious dating back to 11 August. That alone is one of many examples that this is spread too far and will take time to manage (if at all). And cases are not confined to one area anymore, it is spread out all over Melbourne, and now, a new cluster has formed in Shepp

Kew can stop training then? Who do we notify? Commitee or coach?
With a planned protest for tomorrow kiss all local sport for September,October and November good bye and with Covid around Shepparton and that teacher from that Child Care Centre refusing to get tested this is only will get worse especially if we start to get a NSW form of it

Exposure site listed in Bendigo (connected to Shepp cluster). State wide lockdown to be announced very shortly.

You can put a line through all of September
