You're lucky soccer have their own ground at Princes Park. Some grounds have large dead patches North, South East & West where goal faces have been all winter. And that's for just soccer academies - no actual games played!Good because OH have left Princes Park in a disgraceful condition
Actually Ajax players were caught on there with boots on and running through the wicket ! then soccer the sameYou're lucky soccer have their own ground at Princes Park. That ground is unfit for Senior football. No car park, deck barely has a 30 metre arc, literally one kick out the middle is deep forward. A u14's ground at best.Speaking of grounds
Rathmines Reserve (Hawthorn in D2) that had issues during the football season relating to an unsafe surface, has been deemed unfit for cricket and closed by the council till further notice.
I reckon the Citz used to play senior footy at the ground behind the Geebung at one stage, that must be 50m shorter than Rathmines! It’s being completely resurfaced and the cricket club was supposed to be back on in 4 weeks. Last time I looked it was only half done and can’t see the cricketers getting back on before Christmas.Speaking of grounds

Seems that the lower (district) clubs have been proven to be correct.I find it amusing that the first new coaching appointment for 2024 published on the VAFA site was a Premier section coach. There are plenty of new coaches in the other sections but you wouldn’t know this looking at the site. A lot of these appointments were made back in September.

It seems the special meeting has noted that the VAFA has spent a hefty amount (over $50,000 and possibly up to around $100,000) on legal fees in relation to a dispute with a board member.
I'm not blaming the VAFA at all, but my goodness, reading information like that is a real kick in the guts to the competition and the people who put in so much effort at club land for zero dollars and purely for the love of the game.
Not sure why the hate on Rathmines. Great picturesque suburban ground - tad small but a lovely setting. That ground is unfit for Senior football. No car park, deck barely has a 30 metre arc, literally one kick out the middle is deep forward. A u14's ground at best.
Ferndale is longer than Rathmines but skinnier. Melbourne High definitely bigger, as is Canterbury. Not sure why the hate on Rathmines. Great picturesque suburban ground - tad small but a lovely setting.
Love to hear your thoughts on SMS, Preston, Albert Park, Elsternwick, Swinburne, Canterbury and Melb High's grounds. All smaller than Rathmines. Maybe Melb High is roughly the same size and Canterbury a little longer but no where near as wide.
It’s more reference to the fact that VAFA head office has a full time employee to look after media. You’d think that would be keeping an eye out for ALL clubs. Not just ones in Premier.

Not sure, cricket and junior footy clubs haven't come to the party yet.Melbourne High is one of the best grounds to play/watch at, with the apartments and huge old building in the background. Has elevated viewing, with a gigantic away room! And is definitely bigger than rathmines. Same sh!te parking situation though, parking inspectors have a field day every 2nd week when the footy is on.
Drove past Ferndale the other day, When is construction happening on the new scoreboard? would have to be one of the only grounds with a manual scoreboard left I reckon.
Yep, generally need a third party like a main sponsor to come on board and foot some of the cost as well I've heardNot sure, cricket and junior footy clubs haven't come to the party yet.
Albert Park is a joke , it just gets smaller thanks to Parks VicNot sure why the hate on Rathmines. Great picturesque suburban ground - tad small but a lovely setting.

Ormonds is 8 years on and the screen needs replacing already , it never gets a restYep, generally need a third party like a main sponsor to come on board and foot some of the cost as well I've heard

It has changed since the startThe size doesn't change, the grand prix time of year it's run kills Albert Park and any opportunity to bounce back from having the stand on it for 3 months. Parks Vic of course do very little to help the process to get the ground up and running quicker.
CollegiansI know it's very early in the piece, but here's my 2024 VAFA premiership predictions (with the exception of Premier C as it involves my club Hampton Rovers):
VAFA William Buck Premier: Collegians
Premier B Men's: Beaumaris
Division 1: Ormond
Division 2: Elsternwick
Division 3: Swinburne Uni
Where do you have Ormond?

Seems they may have lost a couple. Usually happens when you get relegated. A lot will depend how they gel with the new hierarchy.Where do you have Ormond?
I think most expect them to bounce straight back up to prem c. Good youth blooded this year.
