Looks like a long overdue refurb of the Albert Park Sport Precinct is going to occur, the state government allocating 5 million for the works.
Found details on the website of the local member, Josh Burns ( Labor delivers $5 million investment to transform Albert Park sporting clubs ). Although the article is largely self-promotional spin (and it is actually the Federal government giving the money, not the state), there are some useful features:

The $5 million investment will include:

Change Room Upgrades

Stuart King Pavilion
  • strip out of old fixtures, fittings and equipment
  • at least five new cubicles for change and umpire rooms, toilets and showers including new doors, walls, floor and ceiling finishes;
  • accessibility upgrades; and
  • new services including lighting and electrical, plumbing and ventilation.
Beaurepaire Pavilion
  • strip out of old fixtures, fittings and equipment
  • at least nine new cubicles for change and umpire rooms, toilets and showers including new doors, walls, floor and ceiling finishes;
  • accessibility upgrades; and
  • new services including lighting and electrical, plumbing and ventilation.
Lighting Upgrades:
Oval 1
  • At least two new light poles;
  • installation of at least two lights on each pole to meet at least 150 lux levels for the field;
  • upgraded electrical lighting infrastructure to suit; and
  • removal of existing poles and light fittings.
Oval 13
  • disconnection and removal of existing light fittings;
  • installation of at least two lights per pole to meet at least 100 lux levels for the field;
  • upgraded electrical lighting infrastructure to suit.
Works on each project will be scheduled to minimise disruption to sporting teams. The first works will commence over the coming weeks and all projects will be completed by the end of 2025.

There's also a bit for sailing and baseball, as well as an upgrade of Oval 10, whatever is played there.

None of it is essential, but the upgrade to Oval 1 may induce someone to move there permanently. It would be a good thing if it was offered to Albert Park, who currently get screwed over the worst of anyone in the park (don't get their ground back until June, usually, and in very bad condition).

They'd be doing alright to get all that done for $5m

Is there any way we can see the 2024 player transfers under Play HQ? VAFA transfers page shows nothing and likely linked to the old Game Day system.
Was thinking the same, especially after I read the article today about the stuff up that is Play HQ for all of our cricketing cousins out there. This new system has disaster written all over it.

Clearances are much easier on this format, same with the ability to charge subs or at least partial subs when they register as a positive.

Might be an easier format to administer, but where and how do you view them? Seems there is no platform to see the transfers as you could with the previous platform.

I look at our ones tbh. Don't care about the others

As an admin you may have that luxury. Others at your club and across the wider VAFA community do not. While I support my club, I have an interest in the broader VAFA competition and are curious as to the various comings and goings. Not a major issue and there are more pressing matters to deal with but it seems that this new platform does yet provide visibility of transfers in and out, whereas the previous process did.

I understand. I just find the process much easier now.

Could be as simple as a cut and paste from someone at HQ with admin access straight onto the VAFA website.

That might be a little too easy though.

I enjoyed watching the transfer list last year with all the in's and out's for each club on the VAFA website. is that not going to be a thing now?

Seems they took your advice GY. Not quite as user friendly as the previous system as you can only filter one page at a time but better than nothing. Kudos to the VAFA as I know some other comps have no visibility of their transfers yet.

Great pick-up!

The EDFL are doing a few posts on X, the RDFNL are poor, found a link to the WRFL ones.

Matt Smith to Uni Blues - absolute star player and terrific bloke. Enormous get for the Blues as not too many better in the comp than this guy - IMHO.

Chump

Are you trying to upset Brian Platinum, Chump?;)

Agree, very good pick-up for Marto.

Eyre going down at the Pies, surely the man from the violet crumbles is now in the box seat to claim a spot

Maybe not, according to the BF experts on their board, he hasn’t been setting the world on fire. Looks like Sullivan is a monty though, which would be great for the VAFA.
