You'd have to be very sloppy to be busted by the VAFA on these matters. Just sayin!
Yep. Not like the ATO is going to be interested in a benefactor using some of his businesses' cash to pay players in some way shape or form. Just like the suburban 'salary cap' is a laugh for the same reason

So if Old Mentonians do drop out of the VAFA for 2023, will there be a re-draw of the Premier C fixture, with teams that was going to play against the Panthers now being given a bye?

I'd say that's most likely the case.

So 5 weeks off !
That's not good for C Section, nor the competition.

The VAFA prides itself as the premier and largest competition in suburban Melbourne which also includes fringe suburban clubs.

Some VAFA clubs have recently been embarrassed by taunts from local suburban adversaries regarding the lack of fortitude from the hierarchy of such a prestigious organization regarding the issues of which we are all aware.

Many feel that VAFA clubs are tired of the lack of strong decision making from the people on whom we rely to develop, shape and manage our proud competition.

Perhaps it's time HQ governed as the clubs expect and showed some talent and fortitude.

Would there be any REAL issue if C Section was either an
A) 16 round season with only 2 byes
Or
B) 16 round season with 4 byes

Apart from a small financial decrease, that could be offset by the VAFA reducing affiliation fees for C grade clubs slightly this year, what are the 'real' issues that people see or have been discussing with their players?

Chump 🏆

Hmmm. Is it time for the VAFA to bite the bullet? One D1 team up to C section, which would leave 33 teams across D1-D4.
Then make it:
D1 = 10 teams
D2 = 10 teams
D3/4 combined = 13 teams - play all of the other 12 teams once, then six against teams of roughly equal ranking (as of pre-season). That's 18 games, no Div 4, but would seem better than playing three times against the other 5 teams in Div 4, as it is now.

Just a thought. Can adjust next season if teams join or drop out of the VAFA

When will the VAFA announce a revised fixture for Premier C with one team that was due to face Old Mentonians be given a bye, or are they still waiting for confirmation from the Panthers that they have gone into recess for 2023 before releasing the new program of matches?

What if players have already booked travel plans based on the released draw.

Can't happen because D2 Would be changed and so on down - Just bad luck. D2 clubs already locked in some social events based on published draw etc. Didn't C Grade have 20 games last year so got an extra home game $$$$ so 16 in 2023 will even out.

Here’s some news from the umpiring department, congrats to the 9 umpires who graduated to other higher level competitions, fabulous effort!

But extra costs for Coaches trainers ground costs etc !

Don't be surprised if Old Mentonians do return to the VAFA competition in season 2024.

But, there's a catch to this.

Instead of being known as Old Mentonians, they'll beknown as the Mentone Panthers Amateur Football Club, playing at Le Page Park Cheltenham, and will play in D4, not Premier C. Mentone will still wear the black, gold and blue trim outfit, and still be called the Panthers, it's just they'll ditch the 'Old' from the club name.

Dear Mr B,

I don't wish to deflate you as I'm loving your rebirth, by an large showing your softer side, but B.Fs transcendent calico waver posted the matter of the elevation of his 9 contemporaries last year. Umpire thread #518

B.Fs transcendent calico waver

I'd rather be an ascendant calico waver thanks, pounded the hard yards in the sun at Laverton today and actually enjoyed the cold shower afterward.

Getting older though; lay down to read a book this afternoon and woke up two hours later.
