I believe that Marcellin 35s (Masters) will leave VAFA and go back to Metro masters comp. Metro masters comp is getting bigger and bigger and Willi have 5-6 teams from 35s to 55s as soon as 3rds players are over 35 they can play there.
Wonder if De la. Oakleigh & Preston will also move across.
Perhaps HQ could ask our clubs if they're interested in having a team or teams in an over 34 or over 40. OR BOTH?
Doesn't hurt to ask.

As I understand it a large part of the appeal is the fortnightly rather than weekly commitment.

I'd imagine a clubbies league (open to all ages) that played fortnightly would be quite popular and serve as a good alternative to masters as you're not reliant on finding players solely from a restricted demographic.

Perhaps limit clubs to just one side of this type to prevent xavs submitting 72 teams though.

FWIW is it time to rename the divisions properly? The current naming makes no sense and isn’t fooling anyone. Maybe Premier and then start numbering so Prem B becomes Div 1 etc
nah go back to F section or rename FTroop, blokes I know loved playing in F section

April 5.

Nice early start to the season.

Thinking back to what it used to be like, you could still do the Premier Grand Final on the Friday but the previous Saturday, if you could get the grounds, the other senior and under 19s divisions could finish the previous Saturday.

True, but I'm sure the 5-6 bye rounds that the VAFA will inevitably schedule will hamstring your common sense approach.

Agreed - but we already have the Easter Bye and the Kings Birthday weekend bye. You really only need 1 more bye for representative football and that's it.

Oh and even organise a representative match Kings Birthday weekend too.

Can't understand why the VAFA wants to continue with playing no footy on Easter weekend while every other competition throughout Victoria has some games played on Good Friday & Easter Saturday.

Players and coaches like alike Jason usually get away at this time, I would rather players get away that weekend as opposed to in season absence.

A lot of the country boys like to go home for Easter too.
Works well in the VAFA I think and cant see a good reason to change.

Some semi-professional leagues obviously do it for revenue generation and have historical match-ups that draw big crowds, so players (getting paid) are a little more open to it I assume?

Jase should just worry about the Tigers at Easter

Regarding the 2025 representative game, it will be against the Adelaide Football League (before that, it used to be called the South Australian Amateur & Metropolitan Football League) to celebrate 100 years of interstate amateur football between Victoria & SA, with the game held at Sportscover Arena.
