Quick thought...

Do many teams have big enough lists where players actually miss out on selection on thursday nights??

If so, what happens when the dominant team plays a much weaker team, do the coaches tend to give less talented players a go or do they still put the best team on the park... e.g what will OE do this week against Bentleigh, will they want to give them a thrashing or rather give a couple of their other blokes more of a go?

Same question goes out to teams like OI and OT?

Being quite close to the OE brains trust I can assure you that a selection dilemma/option like that is one they would dealry love to have. If it wasn't for an injury/holiday list as long as the dingo's johnson (long/imposing), their list may be big enough to rest some players. Reality is though, resting better players is not option.

If it were an option, i think games against lower sides are a great opportunity to try players in different spots, you never know what you'll discover about different players when played in spots not normally their own.

Old Mentone to win against Ormond. Mentone will get good school players back this week due to the agsv bye. This in my mind will account for Ormond. Mentone by 2 goals

Round 10 sees some great football action after all teams only played each other 3 weeks ago. Here are Knighta's tips for the weekend...

Bentleigh v Essendon - Bentleigh played tough football against Essendon last time they met and certainly showed their better than 1 win. Fridman is back in for Bentleigh which adds strength but the Essendon midfield should again be too strong. 20pts

Ivanhoe v Trinity - How will the ladder leaders pull up after a very physical encounter last weekend? My thoughts are that Trinity are in with a real show and with players back will take it upto Ivanhoe. Trinity if they can play tough football will hurt Ivanhoe and in so I'm tipping an upset. All good things must come to an end! 12pts

Ormond v Mentone - Schoolboys make their return for Mentone and some are calling them the messiahs out Keysborough way. Will it be enough to defeat an inform Ormond, I doubt it. 36pts

La Trobe v MHSOB - MHSOB will be looking for the double are defeating La Trobe in their only win for the season. The public schoolboys might drop a couple back this weekend and in doing so chalk up win number 2. 10pts

Oakleigh v Bulleen Temp - Two red hot teams get to square off this weekend in what should be a close match. Monaco will be ready to kick a bag whilst Derks and Borland will be ready to rack up possessions for the crushers. At home Oakleigh are hard to beat and this might just be the difference. 28pts

Match of the Round - Ivanhoe v Trinity: That's right, I'm tipping Trinity to take it upto the Ivanhoe boys who exposed more than a few cracks in their armour last weekend. Shut down Geishien, Delmonte and Spargo, play tough footy and your opportunities in front of goal, and Ivanhoe are vulnerable!

Yeah i agree with you there LJ, he is very thorough with his discussions and always back up his views... I think you might find Knighta is aligned with Old Essendon i believe... i don't think he plays with them but could possibly be one of the keen spectators that watches the team on a weekly basis... am i far of knighta???

I'm very flattered by the comments said of yours truely.

I've been around VAFA circles for coming up to 10 years and have seen and played with many of the games greats so I guess I try to give an objective view. I am aligned with OE but not in a great way anymore, more just a keen observer of the game who takes joy in the spectacle that is this football.

I shall now get off my soapbox and return to my daily duties, promoting stuff!

I think you'll find TBP and Knighta come as a package, much like David Calthorpe and Brett "Jibba" Gilbert.

Close but not quite Browny. I am a football journeyman. My playing career takes more twists and turns then the Terror Canyon II at Wet'n'Wild Water World. Currently I'm on the sidelines due to injury, so in my time off I'm enjoying my role as mentor and life coach for the OEG under 19's.

Not associated with either club but I wouldn't hesitate to put my bottom dollar on OE raping the souls out of Bentleigh. And anyone from OE on the forum make sure you give #26 a good roughing up for LJ. #26 from Bentleigh = Biggest co cksmoker in the VAFA
