"Value" of Pick 16

Word is floating around Adelaide that Port are giving Richmond Pick 16 for Jay Schultz...Could he be the next Ian Perrie....

Looking at the stats is Schultz worth Pick 16

Stats there are pointless. If anything Schulz does well to have same goal average with less possesions. Also Schulz is second fiddle to Richo, where as Perrie is one of 6 headless chooks in the Adelaide forward line. Also in the bottom team. Schulz would be capable of 40+ in a side with a decent midfield and some good delivery, very underrated.

That sounds like a bad deal for Port. Schulz hasn't shown much so far.

James Kelly was a pick 17 after that got shopped through about five clubs in the 2001 draft. He finally delivered this year after some serious hills and dales.

16 is a good pick to give away when the likes of burton (98), Scott Thompson (00), Ladson (01) have gone there, and we still waiting to decide how much guys like richard douglas and mitch brown in the last couple of years will do with their careers

I'm saying there's no way you should be giving up a 16 for Schulz, when you're seeking a 100 gamer from a late first round pick, even at the end of the first round.

They dont need to build for the future. They need a few ready made players

The guy has talent, he is just lazy. Every single preseason so far he ends up in the rehab group every second week with some soft injury and just gives the impression that he doesnt care. This could be changed at Port as he will know its his last chance and he might become a decent player. Pick 16 looks over the odds, but i cant see Richmond accepting 33 as we may not even use it and he is under contract. Probably worth around 25 or so.

Not worth 16 alone but perhaps is with the tigers throwing in their early 3rd rounder... He certainly isn't a lost cause and most tigers supporters will be pretty scared to see what he could do at port.

He also has the worst player communication in history with richo - they run to and contest the same ball in the forward line a shocking amount of times... not sure who's fault this is but I am sure that he would be better with a decent coaching staff behind him.

Get Westhoff in the weights room, so that he's not lunch for Scarlett or any other of the big boys for too much longer, and put 16 into a kid that can surely be better than what Schulz can offer.

yeah definately agree, he is a very talented player who needs a bit of luck, can have some real dominating games

I suppose changing clubs could be the kick in the bum he needs. Has not looked like he is worth a first round pick so far. Was terrible in the VFL grand final. Then again so was his whole team that day.
