7 years without finals. Finally have a finals series. Now it’s back to this shit.

It’s not a Jl thing. It’s the management. Why the **** did we sell Lobb, Logue, Acres, Meek and ultimately replace them with an overage midfielder and a second ruckman. How the hell does that work?

Bell is gone. Dale Alcock is a crock and would gladly for him to go. Garlick. Meh.

List management will always be the kypronite of this club.

The Kick In one is the strangest thing. When in the past two years has Ryan ever done a good kick in. Or even a kick in directly to a player and not a bomb to the pack.
Stranegly tonight he did a short dinky kick when he definitely should’ve kicked it long. There are times for it. Hes a hothead.

I'm not even joking when I say we should ban trading our first rounder. Like literally put it in the constitution (of Australia if need be). Minimum board signoff to trade a 2nd.

"Every team trades for some players" - Yes I know and IDGAF. We are banned from trading first rounders.

2-4, about to be 2-5 and don’t have first rounders this year nor next.
Someone has to go. That’s disgusting.

Logue and Lobb both won v Fremantle. Next will be Acres with Carlton.
We’re literally making other clubs better whilst handicapping ourselves.

Trading to Carlton with Acres when they came 9th, makes them better. What a gift Fremantle has become.

Melbourne can go top 4, won’t have to worry about future because Fremantle finish 14th, guaranteed top 5 pick. Idiotic

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Dale Alcock home.
Luke Jackson could be our worst trade ever , Future first now looks like a top 5 pick and our second in the 20's , In return Melbourne's future third doesn't look like it will be any better than a pick in the late 40's and their 4th will be a waste of time .
On top of that we let a wingman in good form and in the prime of his career and a young key defender who we paid a top ten pick for and have developed for several years walk because we had promised too much of our salary too a 2nd ruckman .
To make matters worse Jackson's form in 2022 was average.
And if that's not bad enough we probably lose Treacy next year as well who wait for it looks to be developing as a ruckman forward at peel but will leave because of a lack of opportunity.
And in a real Dockery thing become best 22 elsewhere.
I am not being wise after the event either anyone who cared to read my posts on this trade before it happened would know I was very much in the nay camp.
Thought it was crazy then nothings changed except the pick 1 &2 going to Melbourne are better than I would have hoped.
Oh just realised replying too wrong post
Oh well typed too much now to change .
Stone cold sober as well so no excuse :D

The drafting from last year has to have question marks now?
We took - a project key defender in Davies at 34, won’t play regular AFL footy for several years if even that.
A mature age forward in Emmett that looks well off the pace so far amd could have been obtained with a much later pick or even rookie draft
Wagner a 26 year old that surely could have been taken in the pre season supplementary selection period but we used a ND pick.

And a project Ruck that won’t play for years and is really only backup for 2026/27

That’s the kind of draft haul I expect from Geelong or someone over the last few years that is finishing top 4 every season.

The only positive so far is draper seems unexpectedly good. That was accidental as he was always going to be listed by us regardless.

Losing Logue by not paying him last season early on and locking him in was utterly criminal. What’s often overlooked is Having him there kept Pearce and Ryan on their toes. Avoided complacency in these guys.
Now we have two guys stinking it out each week that are undroppable.

I think the thing that most annoys me about this whole situation is that it felt like the club, prior to the off-season, had finally taken its medicine.

We were just going to build on a young group and back our players in to develop. It didn't feel like we were on a timeline with Pav getting older. All we had to do was not do a ****ing Croad/Tarrant and ship out actual best 22 players.

Now it's just flashbacks to the schwabbolly era.

Agree with everything besides Jlo. His gameplan is awful and it’s negative coaching. The players look sad af.

The half time feature on channel 7 with Brayshaw and Frederick was revealing when they were asked who is the coaches pet?

“Oh JL loves Bailey Banfield

Worst part about this game was it meant finally accepting that this season will be a write off, and there's not going to be some miraculous turn around from players/coaching staff. And there's literally no benefit to it. Even when Collingwood traded their future first and then finished bottom it didn't matter because it would've been spent on Daicos anyway.

Every coach evolved with their game plan, decided playing fast was the way to go, and spent all pre-season grooming their players to do so. Meanwhile we stuck with what got us figured out last year and spent the entire pre season playing ourselves and drinking our bathwater because tbh versing us would make anyone look good.

We are just about the worst side in the comp at the moment. Barely scraping home against Suns and only getting on top of wce once they lost their entire bench. And in none of our losses have we even looked close to winning. Not even patches or quarters of good or exciting footy against any teams with a glimmer of skill. Just pure, uncompetitive football.

And it's largely due to the arrogance of those higher up. Logue would've stayed if he was guaranteed to play back imo, but instead we kept harping on about how we want to keep him because he's so versatile he can go up forward too. There was clearly not going to be any space for him in our forward line this year. And Acres just wanted a fair deal to reflect his season, and Bell was too petty to even give him that. We had no replacement for him, and he was a solid part of why we were so good last year. Watching Dogs wings run the length of the ground every time without fail because we had no one at the fall of the ball. He'd be good enough to at least get a spoil in when the kick was coming out from d50.

Meanwhile instead of grooming someone like Chapman, who has natural skills, in the wing role, we give that to another defender who hasn't played a game in a year and a half and was always just "courageous" at best. Playing Chapman up the ground could've solved two problems at once. Given us a winger and guaranteed Logue a spot in our backline. Logue would've been so ****ing useful last night, and against all other teams with three talls. I don't care about the other guys that left. Dickhead Mc****face was always on his way out, and Tucker and Meek were depth we let go who were in contract. But Logue could've been locked away early, and Acres for a fair price and instead we received absolute **** all from the because we let them go in a contract year.

Additionally, the guys who were keeping Logue out have been absolutely putrid this year. Pearce has conceded at least 3 goals directly every single game. When your captain is doing that what tone does it set for the rest of the team? Gets caught out so easily 1v1 and will give away at least two goals a game from holding free kicks. Ryan offers nothing defensively or offensively. At least last year he was still getting crucial, goal saving intercepts to make up for his inability to defend his man. Was so frustrating watching him trail behind his player every single time the ball went in. He's fat an unfit and can't keep up. Cox is so far from his form last year too its not even funny. At his best he's intercepting freely around the ground and playing on quickly and using the ball well, and rarely getting beaten in a 1v1 contest. Did not have a single intercept mark yesterday. Pearce playing poorly has directly impacted his performance too. We dropped Logue early on last year for a performance that was still so much better than anything Pearce has shown this season.

I was in the camp that Mundy retiring last year was the right thing because he offered little two way running. But holy shit at least he would rack up impactful clearances. If he had Darcy's service right now he'd be back to his best form imo, as well as providing some much needed leadership to our midfield. Instead we replace him with just-as-bad-defensively JOM, who's clearances consist of dinky little handballs to no one. 4 years. 4 ****ING years. Peter Bell is such a ****ing joke. The only player in our midfield who's decided to step up is a tiny 178cm 22 year old. Our stoppage set ups are so ****ing putrid too. Time and time again throughout the game all our mids would get sucked into the contest while Dogs just handballed to the outside and we were no where to be found. Joel Corey is not a midfield coach.

It's time we start calling around to find some competent, EXPERIENCED coaches that have zero connection to our club in the slightest. In the meantime, we're stuck having to sit through this bullshit all season with no compensation at the end of it, becasue of the arrogance and stubbornness from those in charge.

If we continue to play this way, we are in for some smashings. Like 100+ points. Regularly. There's problems everywhere, on every line. They had 3 guys who could be BOG. We continue to bomb to Walters 4v1. We have multiple players unable to execute basic skills. We have multiple players who just aren't big enough. We're almost at Drum levels of crapness. The board needs to do something. The President needs to make a powerful statement because we are going backwards at a terrible rate of knots the way things are.

My fear is not that the coaches are terrible, it's that Fremantle as an organisation is incapable of attracting good coaching talent.

Also I can't be the only one that has thought repeatedly even when we were going good 'Gee, it's a bit flipping weird Bell is so involved with the day-to-day isn't it?'. It gives off General Manager having to sign off on purchasing socks vibes for employees 5 levels below in the hierarchy.

Why have we regressed so much? Is this a combination of coaching and players leaving .Losing Logue and Acres was appaling, surely part of running a club is holding onto team players. What has happened to our midfield? Where is the spirit? Is Longmuir going to strip our young players of their natural talent? Something seems really rotten . Honestly think that our worst under Ross was better than this shite. It always feels like we want to try and one up the budgie smugglers and get some joy out of the fact that they are worse than us.Ego and arrogance got us Jackson for a far to hefty price .

It's not just the 0-11 first quarters in our last 11 games. We haven't come out breathing fire to start games, implementing JL's gameplan in his entire tenure.

Our best wins last year - Vs Bulldogs EF - we all know how bad the start was, the players adjusted mid-quarter in the 2nd. A brief moment of emotional nourishment for long suffering Fremantle fans that win.
Vs Melbourne, we were typical turgid Freo in the first half. Everyone goes to their line coaches at the break. We have an amazing 3rd quarter. Vs Geelong - probably JL's crowning moment as a coach because we played slow and controlled and shut them out of the game for the most part. Still had a poor start though. The kicker was that Blake Acres was BOG that day who we couldn't squeeze into our awesome list since we had great wing depth in Hughes and Henry, cheers Belly.

Vs Brisbane, another really poor start we were lucky not to be 5 goals down before we clicked into gear. Vs Saints the same. Vs GWS, the same. Vs Collingwood SF - the same, we lost in exactly the slow, stilted fashion everyone thought we would after we couldn't recover our shocking start. Embarassed ourselves on the big stage. JL's analysis "we were overawed by the crowd" no reflection on his gameplan and the way Craig McCrae tore it to shreds. No biggy, everyone was too busy patting themselves on the back for a successful season. Belly so happy with building a successful team under his own thumb he took a power trip to the off season and tore our list to pieces and sold our future.

2021 - A couple of nice, passionate late season wins vs the Eagles and Tigers to whet the appetite, but I remember this season for shitting the bed in classic Freo style in our first FTA Thurs/Fri night in 5 years vs Geelong, and our terrible, lackluster starts leading us to get pantsed away from home more often than not. Particularly in the early Rounds (Rd 1vs Melbourne and Rd 3 vs Carlton). Special mention to the buildup of our 'home' game vs Carlton at the G, where we AGAIN came out deer's in headlights and got destroyed early before working our way into the game and narrowly losing.

2020 - we were absolutely ****ing dire to watch this year, but JL got a pass since it was his first season, covid, and the consensus that "defense gets taught first, the offence will be implemented later" best win a huge comeback vs the Saints after we were again all at sea to start the game.

I think the loss of Josh Carr is no coincidence, since he was the name most often parroted by the mids as to their main influence, and it was no coincidence that the mids played with better structure under him and more inspiration after their 1/4 time or half time line meetings with him.
I'm not saying JL deserves no credit for a lot of those second half fightbacks and all the blame for the starts but there seems to be a very strong correlation with how we've played under his watch. Personally I think he doesn't have the fire in his belly, he's a poor communicator, and his extremely obvious nervous/anxious energy doesn't translate well to the team. That's without even getting into his questionable tactics and selections.

This pre-season just looks like we were complacent with our finish to 2022 and
if was somehow just going to happen for us.
Some of these guys aren’t fit or strong enough for the grind of AFL.
I saw Chapman as a guy who could put on some size, its the same with a few who
should of at least had some gain?
Playing Ryan has become a bad joke, and the worst part is they made Lobbs
comments on Freo accurate. Club is going nowhere ATM.
JLo’s plans for this year are basically over, I’d be playing Erasmus, Draper and
we need to find out about Treacy and Worner.
As others have stated it starts at the top, and that’s where we need to cull first.
If it was up to me I’d be going hard for some experienced coaches, it’s pretty
obvious that we have been worked out.
We need a hard nosed type, Pyke? Someone with the fire in the belly.
Who are our enforcers? Targeting Lobb like that was cringe worthy as he had the
last laugh.
If JLo survives the club needs to follow the Tigers turnaround, otherwise it’s the
revolving door.
