Henry, why oh why does he get picked, seen him 4 times tonight just ball watching and standing at edge of pack doing nothing waiting for ball to come out. Hes even more useless then a paper weight

At least get your head in under packs instead of waiting for ball to extract itself, thats what footy is all about, not just waiting for the cheap disposal on the edge of pack and ive never seen him lay a tackle, always seems to run away when a tackle is needed

Having your wingers get sucked into the contest is exactly how you get cut open on the outside by the teams whose wingers are disciplined enough to hold space.

Not Freo related but this absolutely sh*ts me to tears. How can players be plucked out of a competition on the eve of finals? I guess any league that isn’t the AFL or AFLW can go f*ck themselves then?

Lmao this is what winger is told to do, you get your head knocked in if you try contest the ball at the source as a winger rather than be the option for the ball winners to release to.

I've personally once been told when I saw the ball right there for the taking to leave it, because if I didn't win the 50/50 it was more damaging to us as a team than if someone else lost the 50/50 and I was still in position to prevent the opposition running away with it / I do win the ball and the usual ball winners are right out of position and the winger (me in this case, now has the ball with multiple people hot on my tail), usually results in a ball up because we're all flat footed and making it up on the run at that stage with no really exit strategy.

Maybe educate yourself on what a wing is meant to do before you spout off

So much this. There are a fair few players ahead of Henry in terms of their ability to affect that first contest and they'll be instructed to do so. Then he's ready to go and in space if we win the ball. If we lose the ball first up, I'm sure he has instructions and a process to follow, too.

The kind of attitude that every player should be attacking the contest is what we see at half-time by the auskickers lol

Spot on, this is exactly what Montagna pointed out the eagles were doing in the Sydney game, highlighting 5 eagles going for the same loose ball. Swans player got there first and dished off to one of four teammates all standing 10m in the clear.
