I have to say it's been a pretty deflating last month or so. We beat Melbourne at the MCG, Brisbane, and Geelong at home, and there was a feeling that maybe we could do some damage in September - not win it all necessarily, but be a threat. Now we have better availability and are limping towards the finish line. Sydney picked us apart with not much resistance, and then the draw flattered us massively against Richmond.

Our form line is poor and i'd say all the other top 8 sides are playing a better brand of footy than us. Too many passengers and a highly dysfunctional forward line. Same old issues that have plagued us since 2015.

I get that we can be optimistic about the future and we've got good experience into some kids but i look at next year, and even the year after and remain deeply concerned we lack firepower. Lobb is going seemingly. Jackson is a ruck. Tabs and fyfe held together by sticky tape. Amiss has lost a year of development. Sturt has been up and down. Walters on the obvious decline. Where the fk are the goals going to come from. Life is so easy for Carlton at times because of their spine and we just get into low scoring grind after grind.

Our talls are fine, when they’re available. They make a contest, bring the ball to ground. We have no serious medium size forwards to speak of. It’s two > 196cm players and a bunch of sub 180cm players with no one in between with a bit of reach who we can hit up on the lead. Banfield and or Fyfe is the closest thing.

We need someone like Tom McDonald, Fritsch or dare I say it even Zurhaar. Or Banfield / Fyfe neee a defined, consistent role up forward.

Amiss, Treacy? Getting Jackson hurts this draft, but Koltyn next year?

I'm thinking more someone between 185-190cm with a bit of pace, good on the lead. Treacy and Amiss are more traditional KPP builds.

On second thoughts I suppose Sturt is meant to be that player, but it just hasn't happened.

Our inability to compose a decent forwardline since we drafted Pav is our biggest hindrance and I have no idea why it is so hard for us to do so.
We have three developing talls, good chance we'll get there soon. We're doing it right this time, developing guys ourselves instead of trying to buy a key forward

Hey, Banners is on track for 20-25 goals this season good bloody on him. He is our craftiest forward atm and the forwards always get around him when he scores. Hopefully he continues to work on his game and can become even more impactful.

We should have won
The 2 easy misses from Serong and Brayshaw and the Taberner brain fart cost us the game

However The Richmond brain farts were equally mind boggling hence a draw was a fitting result
Richmond had more marks inside 50 and more set shots at goal over the game. I think we should have put more score on the board in the last but we were also very lucky to get away with two points.

By the same token, we should've had more marks inside 50 and more set shots at goal than we did, so they were lucky get away with the 2 points.

I noticed Fyfe do these little handballs to compromised teammates.
Don’t protect your stats dude clear the ball. We now have some handy runners on the outside!
To be fair to him, Fyfe's been handballing people into trouble for 4+ years now.
Handballing to ruckmen's feet, handballing over link up teammates heads, handballing to spots that get his teammates poleaxed rather than to advantage.

Watching Walters decline is depressing
Yeah he kicked an opportune goal on the weekend, but he’s lost his step and can’t find space. Still Plays for frees.

Honestly don’t know if he’s 22 next year, barely is this year. Especially when you think of the talent in the 2s.

Still think we should be finding room for Logue down back, and having a proper fwd set up. Move chappy to a wing or something to make it work. Logue dominates the athletic forward like our other defenders can’t. Cameron and Franklin. Curnow got a few lucky ones over the back but was well held too.

Then up front if Logues back, a set up of Tabs Lobb and Treacy just makes more sense. Just natural forwards. Fyfe down there too gives Treacy a 4th defender.

It's not like we are spoilt for choice in the forwardline either. He will play until he is replaced.

If we do the unthinkable and lose to everyone including the bin chickens...yes. But even that would be extraordinarily unlikely. 12.5 wins is historically enough.
Of the three teams 10,9 & 8. Two of the three would have to win 4/4 games plus us losing everything. They all have games against top 4 teams & some have multiple.

If we miss finals from here, this thread is going nuclear.
