I'll just chuck this here cos there's no real point other than to be pissed off about it. This is Jesse Hogan's career year by year. Every single year at the Demons or Giants he's managed at least 2 goals/game, minimum 1.9 - the exception being at Freo - under TWO different coaches in 2019-20, where he could barely kick a goal.
Our system is fundamentally ****ed. Every forward we trade in is doomed to fail, and has. Every forward we draft (the one or 2 in the past 10 years) is doomed for mediocrity.

Just shows how good Pav was to put up with our system under various coaches and kick goals for Freo. He would've won multiple Coleman's at literally any other club though.

We pissed him off after two ****ing years too, I will never forgive them for giving up on him so quickly.

Was regularly ignored on leads, you could see the visible frustration on his face because he genuinely tried to create opportunities and was never given them.

And Tabs would lead into his lane or bring his player into the contest frequently. It felt as though we were afraid of the media and so just got rid of him as quickly as possible.

I get this but also don't think it should be a club thing no matter the coach/system. I bloody hope not. Otherwise, we may as well fold the thing.

Also, Pav was so, so good.

Imagine if we had stuck with Hogan and used him as our number one key forward instead of Taberner, things could be different. He'd offer more to us now.

Also never forgive them for not giving McCarthy a proper run as third tall, he played there for a few games and dominated when he did.

Are we really serious here, or are we taking the piss.
If you are serious then I have lost a lot of fiath in our supporter base.
So many know so little.
Next thing you will tell me just how good Danile Parker was.
But maybe you are not old enough to remember him,he ranks along side McCArthy and Hogan, but was less trouble.

You are being ridiculous to make a point. I know Dan Parker and he is a very nice, good man. but he was no where close to averaging two goals a game which Hogan has over his career.

Hogan still has a lot of the problems he had while here, venting at teammates that don't pass to him, not chasing or tackling and even called out twice this week by the media for appealing for frees when the ball is there to be won at crucial times in the last quarter.

Mr. Poshman (how posh are you, really?!) - do you think what I am thinking?! I'm no "expert genius analyst" type, but do you wonder if Lobb had such a good year last year was because of 2 reasons:

1. Tabs didn't play with him much because he was mostly injured and Lobb not and when he did, they didn't have chemistry because Lobb wanted to play a more dominant marking tall forward role and Tabs 'got in his way'?
2. Because Lobb always knew he was going anyway, and it freed him up. Nothing like feeling free-spirited; nothing to lose, wind in your hair kind of thing.

Maybe I'm just clutching at straws, I do think point 2 is valid; you do see Tabs congesting up in packs more than in good leading lanes though. Maybe he is that problem all along, although it's fair to say he was our most dominant KF in 2020/21.

Lol we desperately need a win to put an end to these nonsensical scenarios. Hogan averages more bags per game than goals.
c'mon man, bit over the top. Harsh :tearsofjoy:

Hogan, whilst far from being perfect kicks 35 goals last year, 1 less than Lobb without finals and in a crappy GWS team as a 2nd/3rd tall option.

Pretty sure with 8 so far this season he's inside the top 20 currently; 2 more than our current best Walters on 6. It's not magnifico, but we'd take that in a heartbeat right wouldn't we?! I know he had (has) his issues, but so did George Best in the '60s at United. Sometimes you have to find a way to motivate the magical, mercurial wizards of the game. Jeff Farmer wasn't without his controversies and even Michael Johnson had his 'moment'.

A good coach rises to that challenge. Ross, had he stayed I reckon would have tried it out. J-Lo feels like the effeminate, sensitive, holistic coach that would rather drink the green tea Ross joked about and get rid of your scallywags just in case they buff your daughter and get her covered in tattoos. And it felt like we couldn't get rid of him quick enough rather than iron out his creases with the right psychological approach.

Proper wimpy vibes

Nah he was never fully committed despite us selling the farm for him. He got into a bloody bar fight and got his ass wooped in his first preseason here. He was also contributed to the culture issues we had at the club. He screwed us over and there is no other way to interpret it. Of course he's going to perform in Western Sydney where it's not illegal to park your car upside down in a suburban street.

anyway Hogan Schmogan et al, it's all in the past. But I think part of the big problem now is we've become....too f***ing nice.

Softly softly does it...we mirror J-Lo as a team, and the smug but shadowy background pacings of Bell and co. Everything is too clean, too whitewashed, too corporate Yes Man - sterile, robotic and dull; like androids with no characters.

AFL is one of the most brutal, physically punishing and demanding sports I've ever seen bar Rollerball and that's a fictitious sport anyway!! It demands intense effort first, even if you're a silky skilled flamingo that only wants to show off poise and grace. No room for namby pamby thumb-sucking sadsacks of solitude, you want it....ya gotta crack skulls and take it. Cos Stone Cold said so!

Too watered down; too nice guy; too shy-eeee-ayeeeeeee. Less Kajagoogoo; less radio gaga, lady Gaga....whatever the f***. More Motorhead, Iron Maiden kind of thing please. Time to get a bit of fire in the belly Belly. Can you and the "boys" make Fremantle as brutal as the prison once was?

Let's see what ya got wet wipes

Based on how the ball has coming into the forward line it wouldn't matter. They would of been frustrated as heck.

Also, doesn't matter if kicks his 2 goals a game for GWS, his off field behaviour would still be toxic

I don't thing Cameron or Hawkins could kick 2 goals a game in our forward line. Unless they learnt to regularly mark over 8 people when it got dropped on their opponent's head. The only good kick to a lead I have seen this year was by Young and JLo keeps him up back.

It was same issue last year. Kick it long and high as possible. Acres was big culprit of this. Lobb was clearly frustrated by this

Actually when the small forwards like Walters, Schultz, switta play up higher up the ground and kick into the forward line it's pretty good delivery

Walters to Banfield for our first goal on Saturday was pretty good. Banfield almost would’ve found it harder to drop it than mark it tbh.

Pretty hard to stick with a player who shows up off their face to the F+B I would have thought

Drunk @ training

Rolling cars on suburban streets

Comatose on the floor of pubs

You can’t just sweep all that shit under the carpet while asking all the other players to be professional

Nah what he means by Tabs leading into his lane is that Tabs overtook him doing 50 so Hogan had to swerve and flipped the car.

Filmed sans pants and gurning hard a week before the season opener.

We're really struggling if we're looking back fondly at Jesse Hogan.

Lol it was good kick by Walters but it was also good lead by Banfield. Give credit where its due.

Never said it wasn’t a good lead. It certainly made the kick easier.

FWIW I thought Banfield contributed enough. I have no problem with him not handballing to Henry when he himself he could run it 5-10 into the goal square. Less disposals in that situation is less chance of ****ing it up, especially when Liam Henry is the other player involved.

I agree. Go back and watch the shit speeches of Serrong and Pearce after we beat WC. It made me want to dry reach. Full corporate, no personality wank. Just thank the players, and leave the pep talk for when it’s needed. FMD.

It's why I am so angry. I could deal with being toilet if there was some silver lining (i.e. the draft) and we used this year to bring Johnson/Ras etc up to speed. But the ****ers took that from us as well with Jackson and JOM. There is nothing to get excited about.
Likewise….

In fact it’d almost been better for us in the long run because it would’ve meant we got one more crack at elite talent , in particular a fwd *(this years top 10 looking stacked for fwds) .

Kinda like how melbourne did in 2019 (after making a pre lim in 18’)- going on to draft Jackson , kozzie and rivers - all of who played key roles in their premiership year

* going on the assumption we would’ve drafted a fwd to begin with of course
