That's exactly the problem.
And when I considered researching it for VFL/SANFL/WAFL clubs that was the problem with it.
So I decided on why start if you're probably never going to finish.
Or worse, do half the job and get it wrong.
Of course, it would be great to have the VFA club historys, but I think it's going to be a massive reseach project, even bigger and more difficult than the VFL/AFL jumpers I did with a lot of help from others.
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent start. But you're basically where I was in 1996 when I started. These are the ones you remember or have heard about.
I finished all the clubs in 2004. And only then because a mate of mine Dave went through every footy record from 1970 to 1990 and picked out every single little change and I then did the graphics. There were days in at the State Library, there were visits to club museums, and plenty of visits to MSB when it was in elizabeth St, and then when it moved to Flinders St.
This could be your mission, should you choose to accept it. If you do, I could put you in contact with people like Marc Fiddian, who might know where to get his hands on information, but the reseach will be a big undertaking.

What is msb? Did the vfa have a head office? If yes i knlw they could have lots of info but it is a masive project. I think what you have done is amazing & it more than enough for people to understand what they wore & in what era

VFA did have an office opposite the MCG years ago.

Ah yep santo's bookshop . Been in his shop a few times. I have a book his has written called football grounds of melbourne has all the old vfa & vfa teams in it. Has a few pics of vfa jumpers but are black and white.
Wizard waffle you have made a great start, one that no one before has really done in view. I respect mero's comments. I value what you have done and it does not have to be perfect, in fact for each jumper you can nominate the source of the info so you are covered. When the new Footypedia Full Points Footy site comes on line, i think it's going to be called Australian football, Maybe the VFA/VFL jumpers can have a home there? They are looking for contributors.

I was walking past there the other day and he had in the window. If I wasn't in a rush I would of stopped by and had a look.
+1 for having these on Full Points Footy. Some of their history's on clubs were pretty sketchy and this would clear a few things up

love your work wizardwaffle. Did anyone watch hall of fame? Bob Johnson(Melb and WAFL) got good acknowledgement for his Oakleigh years. There were some B&W shots of the oakleigh monogram with the 'O' with the pointed ends like the Liston winner above. A few yaers ago the AFL would have tried to hide any VFA reference at the HoF. Nice to see the change. Still think VFA stars should be in there like Frosty Miller. Reno Pretto, Fred Cook etc etc.

Sandringham Zebras have had a few different jumpers since joining the VFA in 1929
The colours represented the the three towns/areas that made up the then City of Sandringham,Gold/Yellow (sand on the beach) for Sandringham,Blue for Hampton (the bay) and Black for Black Rock (The black rocks forund there on the bay shore)
The first jumper was Royal Blue with Gold and Black bands around the centre, in the early 1930s it changed similar to the present day striped one and after the second world war they had a jumper with three large stripes on the front and an all Black back same design as the St Kilda VFL one. There was also a version that had stripes back and front.Another had a large monogram of a zebra on the front.

It would be a mighty comeback for Yarraville to demerge with Sedden, and then join the AFL.
I took the colour of the eagle to be white as the club colours where Red, Blue and White.
This is why I took the eagle to be white. With those changes I have a Yarraville uniform looking like this:
The nickname of Port Melbourne isn't clearly defined. The current script logo says Boroughs and the old logo and the merchandise page on the Port Melbourne site say Borough.
The name Borough is a reference to the old name of the council area. the Borough of Port Melbourne. I would actually go with Borough as their nickname as their is only one Borough of Port Melbourne. I think the script logo was created by a designer, and took Borough to be a creature, so a group would be stronger, so it became Boroughs.
The nickname is good because it is historical, but isn't good as it lacks the image of a creature or object. The other nickname you have seen used, Burras or Kookaburras would be a good one as it retains the Burra or Borough as a nickname, and gives the club a animal barrack for. Last year the Burras swooped up the premiership, and they laughed all the way.

It's a shame that the self appointed keepers if the code don't seem to value the VFA story. This stuff needs a museum.
