That's exactly the problem.Would like to do the North Ballarat Test Pattern jumper, but the pictures I have of it ain't the clear for such a unusual design. The are also plenty of jumpers missing from the clubs. The story of how you created your site of AFL jumpers would be what would have to be done to do a VFA/L uniform site, probably worse because of the not as big coverage of the VFA/L and the reduced market for such a site. Were your site interests many people due to the fact that nearly all the clubs survive today, the majority of VFA/L clubs are no longer in the league or have merged once or twice with other clubs. In short, the history of many of these VFA clubs has been lost.
The Dandenong Football Club left the VFA in 1991, but was said to come back in or was replaced by the Dandenong Redlegs. That club doesn't exist anymore and the name Dandenong Redlegs has been given to another Dandenong club so the name is carried on. Alot of the history of the Dandenong Football Club would have been lost in this time even if it wasn't suppose to. How many other VFA clubs are like this? Plenty probably, and would leave many gaps in the uniforms.
Melbourne Sports Books. What is msb? Did the vfa have a head office? If yes i knlw they could have lots of info but it is a masive project. I think what you have done is amazing & it more than enough for people to understand what they wore & in what era
I was walking past there the other day and he had in the window. If I wasn't in a rush I would of stopped by and had a look.Ah yep santo's bookshop . Been in his shop a few times. I have a book his has written called football grounds of melbourne has all the old vfa & vfa teams in it. Has a few pics of vfa jumpers but are black and white.
Thank you Civilest. I have that Football Recorder somewhere in my collection of Football Records. It is in one of the boxes under the house. Does that Football Recorder have the table of the years that clubs were in the VFA. I would like a copy of that. It would save me looking through all those boxes.
The Box Hill Hawks jumper picture appeared in the Whitehorse Leader two years ago when it became Box Hill's clash jumper. It was said that after two years they would decide which way they will take the club uniform. Traditional Box Hill or Hawthorn. Looks like Hawthorn won.
I can't figure out which club the playeris from in the second picture of the group of ten. I would say they would be from the top left; Sandringham, Don't know, Brunswick, Northcote, Preston. Bottom row: Yarraville, Preston Oakleigh, Prahran and Port Melbourne.
Blue Home / Red Away apparently. can anyone confirm?
No, it is a picture from their website.
I'll put the black line on.
It would be a mighty comeback for Yarraville to demerge with Sedden, and then join the AFL.
I took the colour of the eagle to be white as the club colours where Red, Blue and White.
This is why I took the eagle to be white. With those changes I have a Yarraville uniform looking like this:
The nickname of Port Melbourne isn't clearly defined. The current script logo says Boroughs and the old logo and the merchandise page on the Port Melbourne site say Borough.
The name Borough is a reference to the old name of the council area. the Borough of Port Melbourne. I would actually go with Borough as their nickname as their is only one Borough of Port Melbourne. I think the script logo was created by a designer, and took Borough to be a creature, so a group would be stronger, so it became Boroughs.
The nickname is good because it is historical, but isn't good as it lacks the image of a creature or object. The other nickname you have seen used, Burras or Kookaburras would be a good one as it retains the Burra or Borough as a nickname, and gives the club a animal barrack for. Last year the Burras swooped up the premiership, and they laughed all the way.
The two photos are not mine to say if you can use them or not. Both are from the Yarraville Eagles website so you will have to ask them. The pictures of the jumpers are mine and you can use them. Just say where you got them from.
