Ok, so I went and watched the VFL practice match yesterday, couldn't find anything on this board about it so I'll post it here...

We got touched up by the blues, they were better for majority of the day, expect for the last quarter, think we ended up losing by 40 odd but didn't check the score after the game.

Chaplin played forward all game, kicked 2 goals if I remember correctly, but did nothing to warrant selection anytime soon. If you didn't know who he was, he just looked like a VFL player.

Broad was pretty impressive, I never thought he was a shot at round one selection, and probably won't be able to crack our AFL side for a little longer, but his versatility is great, strong in the air and on the ground, his kicking was actually pretty solid.

Batch was one of our best, with the most impressive aspect of his game being his kicking and decision making, was a real leader down back and started numerous chains of attack.

Pretty much everything Short touched turned to gold, but didn't get it enough, smart footballer who uses the ball well. His kicking inside 50 was a highlight.

Elton is bloody huge, absolute monster he is, but sadly Liam Jones clearly beat him on the day (Although this match up swapped around a fair bit). Liam Jones kicked 2 in the first 2 minutes of the game, and probably should have kicked 5-6 but I think ended up with 4. Elton was low on disposals but is really starting to use his body and go in hard.

Lennon will be talked about as probably the best player for the tiges, but he really only played well in the last quarter, which he was everywhere, kicking 3 of his 4 goals. Dropped a open chest mark practically on the siren of half time, about 10 meters out. His ball use is silk though.

Chol was in and out of the game, a few high flying attempts were entertaining and on the half time siren started a biff with the blue boys, really got fired up. At quarter time he was taken aside by Choco Williams and they spoke about trying to crash the packs and not worrying about who is beneath you. He kicked a goal, maybe another but I can't actually remember.

Mcbean was fairly quite up forward, didn't really notice him that much to be honest.

Soldo pretty much rucked the whole game vs Cam Wood, and was beaten as you would expect, still had a crack and would have been spent by the end of the game. A long way to go to be anywhere near AFL ready.

Butler had his moments, but I actually think he gets lost up forward sometimes. He is fairly short, but I reckon he does his best work on the ball and in the contest. Him and Cam Wood were having a push and shove at half time which was funny to see, held his own.

Castagna was pretty quiet, took a few on at some stages but had to rush his kicks because of it.

Marcon made the middle his own, is an inside beast, but can't see a spot for him in the AFL side at the moment. Is really impressive in and under player, the same stuff he was doing last year in the VFL.

Hunt was ok, nothing special, didn't really stand out. Played half back and wing.

A.Moore did some good things. But I have a feeling he might have only played the first half? Can't actually remember seeing him after half time. In saying that, all 3 of our emergencies played the game, while Carlton didn't play any of theirs.

Oleg Markov did some exciting things, but drifted in and out of the game. Is a lot taller than what I thought he was.

Callum Moore who is on our rookie list was surprising really impressive. He is probably the least talked about on our list but played down back and has good size, is a tad skinny, but more than held his own in the contest. Sadly he got injured in the 3rd quarter, was some type of leg injury and was down for awhile, didn't come back on after that. Hope he is ok, looking forward to seeing more of him to be honest.

That's all of the AFL listed players, for the VFL blokes that Ballard from Freo will be a gem of a pick up, played Cachia's role from last year, he is built as solid as they come, huge chest. Him and Marcon controlled the contested footy, good tandem.
Sam Darley was alright, but he will be one of our better players I think.
Pretty sure a few of the better VFL players didn't play for some reason, but I might have been wrong.

Luke Conca is so overweight it isn't funny, can't believe he is playing VFL footy. I was standing next to Reece Conca and Will Thursfield (Unsure why he was there, was just in casuals) and Reece was saying that Luke said his jumper is about 2 sizes two small and it's making him look even fatter. In his defence he goes in bloody hard.

A lot of the AFL boys came and watched for at least a half, along with Hardwick and the other coaches. Push up king was there also.

If anyone was there, did you see that silly lady get bogged in the gravel? Ended up running her car into the fence.

But that's pretty much it.

Thanks for the write up was hoping someone would do it for those of us who weren't there. Cheers.
