Mark Austin looks a fair way off AFL, probably not fit. Mclean and McCorkel had a field day and were our best players. Anderson and Johnson played well. O'hAilpin went ok. I recon Touhy is a great find for us, he's god good awareness, he's very strong, tough and goes in hard and has pretty nice skills. He will play AFL games next year. Good to see some old fashion wet weather footy.

McLean was great around the stoppages. Did a lot of grunt work in close, in conditions that probaby suited him, and was BOG for mine, Hampson, although had no opposition, dominated the hitouts, Johnson was great for the first half, but faded, & Thornton was both steady in defence, but the surprise packets for me were Joe Dare's second half, he was in everything continually moving or kicking the ball out of defence. Looks like a good prospect for a game of AFL next year. Looks slight in build and needs to put on a bit of muscles over the pre season though. And to a lesser extent, Zac Tuoy, did some really nice things, and took the game on, and created great run out of defence. If you didn't know, you would think he has been playing this game for years.?

My best five of the Blues players;

O'hAilpin - Didn't mark anything (Who did?), but was by far our best crumber at ground level, and kicked goals accordingly. His recovery is elite following the contest, probably kicked 3 or 4 and assisted 2 or 3 just to top it off.
Hampson - Wasn't up against much, 50 hitouts to 15 or thereabouts.
Johnson - General at HBF, playmaker off of the wing, sublime disposal despite conditions.
Joe Dare - Sublime disposal and great work, especially floating back in the last quarter when Casey had the wind, and all of the momentum. His kicking was very good all things considered and he was really trying to create options against the wind.
McLean - Was in everything, questionable is the level of his contribution relative to how many touches he got, but he just kept going and going.

Austin is also worthy of a mention as he was played a solid game and put his body on the line at every opportunity. JA and Browne did alright, got enough of the ball, but their decision making was suspect and as such this effected their disposal, or at least ability to gain some metres for the team. Thornton, solid but uninspiring, and found himself getting caught in between at times - a difficult day to play loose.

Didn't catch the second half but Dare impressed me last week and it sounds like he finished off the game strong again. Exciting prospect. Big kick.

Great game by McLean, he looked spent although kept going. Good little interview with him at the half also!

Touhy was fantastic for a kid still learning the game, he looks very solid, but still has good pace. He was taking the game on and his skills in the conditions were top calss.
Looks like we have really found one here and he will play games next year....

Thornton played really well, but he has since he has been back in the 2's, doubt he will ever wear the Navy Blue again!
