I hope he doesn't feel hard done by and gets his white line fever under control. One of the best players in the AFL to watch and he has let everyone down.

Commiserations guys. I know how it feels to have a star player f*ck up massively on the eve of an elimination final.

Will be interested to see if your club can pull Greene's head out of his own backside after this and correct his unnecessary aggro.

Pardon the intrusion lads. As a neutral I can't help but feel you guys have been unfairly treated. This was trial by media right from the get go and, as others have said, demonstrates 'rules for some and not for others'.

I wish my club had a player as dynamic and exciting as Toby and the remainder of the finals series will be the poorer without him.

Wishing you guys all the best and hoping you can now go all the way....starting with flogging that scum from geelong on Friday night.

Why would that be the case though, surely the league would want a Sydney based club to succeed wouldn't they.
The league's preference would be for the Sydney clubs to contribute to the bottom line with sponsorships and TV rights without being overly threatening on the field.

Case in point: Sydney getting a trade ban as a result of recruiting Buddy entirely within the rules.

Not sure I see the logic in your first point, as for the "ban" on Sydney that was for "poaching" Franklin from GWS, who the league wanted as their marquee player up there.

I followed that hearing closely and think the whole basis of AFL's argument was that the contact was "intentional, aggressive, demonstrative and disrespectful", it was hard to argue against that with the footage available, Toby really shouldn't have put himself in that position especially during a finals series. I hope you can still knock the cats out next week!

That’s not quite right, AFL were very concerned about Sydney using COLA to secure the two most sought after players on the market namely Franklin and Tippett.

They certainly didn’t love Franklin being poached from GWS but it was the Tippett signing that cooked their goose.

In retrospect Franklin would have increased fan support but probably would not have been the guy to get us to the promised land. That guy was the ruckman we never bothered to sign.

VFL hierarchy have got their wish.

Now let's stick it right up them.
I don't think the afl management is to blame, they would love GWS to have a successful finals run, especially when so many western Sydney people are stuck at home wanting to watch some sport on free to air tv. The vic media a different story as by kicking GWS they make themselves more popular with the Victorian viewers. I wish it hadn't happened, but Toby does need to change slightly in my view.

AFL considering appealing according to Mitch Cleary on twitter

MORE WALL TO WALL TOBY COVERAGE

I think VFL HQ, media, MRO and Tribunal have all taken massive reputational hits this week.

No one believes the system is fair, just or independent anymore.

I suspect they are trying to find a way to salvage some of their credibility.

However, it will merely make matters worse.

When Brad Scott arrives in his new job, the first thing he will have to do is raze the entire MRO/Tribunal system.

Toby will likely be remembered not for suspensions, but rather as having been the martyred catalyst for positive change.

End of the day, this has been a convenient way of diverting the attention away from the current state of mediocrity in AFL umpiring. What confuses me is the way the AFL did everything to stop Barry Hall from being suspended for the blatant and gutless hit on Matt Macguire in the 2005 finals. At the time it seemed to be all about getting Sydney into the Grand Final and maximising their chances. No hint of the AFL pushing for six week suspension on that occasion.

Just wow…A really really poor biased decision! If that was Martin or Dangerfield, this ‘non-incident’ goes nowhere and they get to play next week. There’s really no perspective in AFL football. Those working in the industry take themselves far too seriously; yes I’m talking to you Jake Niall! What a pathetic judgmental piece of ‘soiled toilet paper’ he wrote in The Age which implored the tribunal to take Toby out. You’ve never played the game & should be ashamed of yourself. This is a professional athlete whose livelihood is at stake.

Let’s look at the facts that were there for everyone to see…The contact Toby made was barely noticeable. (Any reasonable person outside of the AFL machine would look at that footage & just couldn’t fathom how that is a 3 week ban.) There is zero flexibility in the tribunal decision making. Maybe if we had a system, where, if the umpire felt so aggrieved by a players conduct, (which he did not in this instance), he could toss the player out for the rest of the game like they do in the NFL.

This decision would be laughable if it wasn’t so unprofessional & incompetent.

If it wasn't for the first angle being the worst, it would've been a week like Hawkins' example. There would've been no media run-up in the lead-in.

The level of psycho in Toby that causes all his troubles is the same reason he is better than other players his size and weight.

He would rack up 30 touches in the middle as a first and second year player, then reinvented himself as a forward who is as dangerous as any in the comp.

He has so much C in him that it's overflowing
