I know case numbers became irrelevant the moment COVID 0 was deemed unachievable. So the purpose of lockdown has changed? Initially it was about stopping movement of people, stopping the spread of infection and therefore reducing case numbers. Now it's about keeping us "under lock and key" until we are vaccinated?
Lockdown has always been about been about limiting the spread and impact on hospitals until a vaccine was available.
Same as the rest of the world.
When we got to 0, it served no purpose.
Now we're still waiting to reach Vax targets before opening up. Same as the rest of the world has done.

thats been the case since last years lockdown. getting to covid 0 was just a way of being able to remove the restrictoins entirely.
anyone still questioning that is either stupid, hasnt actually been paying attention, or is being deliberately misleading for political reasons
Melbourne/Victoria are not the same thing.
What’s your solution? Shut the border to a place with an 80% vaccination rate? Put regional Victoria into lockdown?

Will it really? Or will the same sort of people continue to infect eachother? I would assume sensible people will continue to do sensible things.
We will know in Sydney if this is the case in a couple of weeks.

i imagine it will be like chicken pox long term. you will probably get it at some point eventually, but for the most part people will be protected from hospitalisation by the vaccine, and because of that the hospital system will be able to cope with the people who do need it.
thats not an argument against mandatory vaccination or vaccine passport type arrangements though.

Where do you live? Because that's definitely not what we're meant to be doing! Street food and takeaway cafes have been a workaround and we've been given a bit of leaway with them, same as the parks. But there's been a lot of people taking the piss with it (ie. groups of over 10 and multiple different households etc).
If you're having house parties, you're just a campaigner.

Correction. Longer lockdowns than any city in the world.
Is it actually true this time? Or will the Murdoch press find another city thats actually been in a longer one and forget they ever said that Melbourne was in the longest one in the past, just so they can trot out the 'WORLD RECORD LOCKDOWN' headline. Again.

Daniel Andrews is an example of what not to do, he's lost the players (aka Victorian public) and we need a new coach asap
How can you out Gladys and the WA bloke in the same sentence??
One has zero COVID and just hosted a grand final.
The other has been in lockdown for months, has the most Delta deaths in the country by a mile, and spread it to other states!

Easy for different reasons
Marky Mark gets points for keeping covid out for extended periods something no other state has done
Queen Gladys gets points for showing that you can live without fear of covid
Victoria are currently up to 951 deaths total since the pandemic began and Daniel Andrews is responsible for 820 of them.
Although depending on where ,who you are and personal circumstances some people in other places would be correct to believe they have had the longest lockdown.
