I would love to know how they came up with which teams get What Zones?
The Victorians zones are similar to last time we had zones although Collingwood had Northern suburbs last time I think.

African Boys would be the most likely signed in the Melbourne Academies
There seems to be some tying in with VFL alignments and by extension TAC cupI would love to know how they came up with which teams get What Zones?
So like Australian, greek, italian, etc?variety of cultures.
Great. So we miss out on a big region that develops a consistent AFL level player, so we can have a big zone in NT which will most likely net us a one trick pony that will play 2 good quarters out of 3 games. Give me a big metro/country region in VIC over a NT zone any day.I suspect it's a tradeoff for a large zone in the NT

Carlton - Preston,
Hawthorn - Box Hill
Melbourne - Casey (Dandenong)
St Kilda - Sandringham
and some tying in with a club's heartland or areas they're targeting WB - Ballarat & western suburbs
Geelong - Geelong
Hawthorn - eastern suburbs
Essendon - north west suburbs
F*** this shit. Get Hine and crew to start identifying the best 12-15 years old in the country that qualify as multi-cultural or indigenous and pay for them to move to our zone in Melbourne or NT. Payments for the academies are outside the cap.
If it's here, whether we like it or not, maximise our opportunity, within those rules. Better to spend the money on this then the Irish type of experiments.
I am with you Bay Pie the "smart" clubs will exploit this initiative IMO they would be "dumb" if they didn't.
Start to see a lot more Haileybury or Caulfield Grammar scholarships.
and Lucky we got a Zone in the NT.
Did Jurrah come from that Zone?
And Hawks also got a big NT Area. How many Hawks Men work on the AFL?
This is not a substitute for the draft. In other words, I suspect underage players who are already in an elite set up will be automatically ineligible to be in an academy. Whilst a region like Northern Vic might develop consistent AFL level players this area is also very efficiently scouted - I doubt there are many gun underagers that get missed by the TAC clubs. The NT on the other hand has a lot of talent and not much scouting or elite programs.Great. That's irrelevant as we would get them from anywhere. I bet little Jimmy Davis Leon's son is from our NT zone too. he is the only multicultural FS we would be getting...
That doesnt matter unless they are multicultural. Are the Macedonian Marvel's kids multicultural enough?

Have any Good Players come from Barkley?
