They'll leave it to Kennett, no way will they go up against the AFL (unless they talk to the AFL first and agree on how it's going to be done).

Chapman (Adelaide Chairman) lead the charge against the AFL and Essendon last time when Paul Little was being an idiot. Remember that AFL meeting with the Club Presidents and when Little had asked them all to do a vote of no confidence prior to it? Gordon was the one who spoke in the end, but a prior meeting was called by Chapman. He was the instigator and it was him and two others that then called Gil and told him to get Little to pull his head in and how pissed off all the other clubs were with Essendon. I don't think that annoyance has dissipated at all from the other clubs. Little got the hint and didn't turn up to the meeting. He only called in via teleconference for a short period of it.

They didn't even ******* check!

They didn't ask anyone. They didn't follow the bloody rules.

Yes they fell victim to human frailties, but they should and must accept the consequences.

It amazes me the amount of people still falling for the Nuremberg/Dog ate my homework defence. If those people bothered to read the full report they'd see the players were far more complicit and aware than Robbo and co have led everyone to believe. People have been saying for 3 years "The athlete is responsible for what goes into the athletes body". For some strange reason, this is news to people today....

Well considering Gillon confirmed on AFL360 that they'll keep the number 1 pick in the 2016 draft, I'd almost back Watson keeps his precious medal.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. They just keep on protecting the drug cheats. At this stage Adelaide more harshly punished for a few bucks under the table.

For one main reason - they just read what the AFL media feeds them. And apart from one or two of them, they just haven't had the balls to say anything contrary.

AFL pretty much had to bend over and take what was coming from CAS, and its pretty clear now that today's result was inevitable given what the CAS transcripts reveal. The AFL and the EFC must have known this and all they could do was drum up a bullshit narrative about discounting and backdating the penalty into nothingness, hoping it would make the actual penalty look unreasonably harsh.

But now it is back in their control and what happens? No more penalties, a year of AFL sponsored tanking landing the top picks, hand outs, salary cap concessions, the green light to pillage players from lower league clubs, and a big tough t***ies to those who can see it for what it is.

Back to unaccountable business as usual at AFL house.

mike the dyke seems to have been in the system for years now, is he accountable to anyone?

new blood is needed

Is anyone on the Commission accountable? How in all seriousness would you get rid of a commissioner or any of their appointee? It's a closed loop, accountable none and no-one. Even company boards are easier to remove than this lot.

3 Premierships and Essendon being labelled Drug Cheats.
Fair to say things have gone alright as a Hawks supporter the last 3 years.
Oh and Sammy Mitchell winning a Brownlow brighten up 2012 a little.

Please don't make a thread about Essendon's implosion about Hawthorn, I beg you.

You mean more harshly punished for not paying anything but having a side contract that the club never paid out on, wasn't enforceable? ;)

I'm still yet to understand how Essendon players have been "banned" since last March yet they were running around playing in season 2015!

I believe that if 2/3 of the clubs want one of them gone they're gone. Unfortunately the AFL controls 3 votes directly as it hold the licenses for Sydney, Western Sydney and Gold Coast plus the WAFC controls the votes of West Coast and Fremantle and I'm not sure about the 2 SA clubs but the AFL probably only needs to bully a couple of clubs into voting it's way to ensure they can do whatever they want.

Because it was backdated to the date of the original AFL Tribunal decision. This is common for most CAS Appeals. Contador is a prime example of it.
