I can t believe he is trying to sell himself as heroic.
He needs to work in some big businesses because he has a poor understanding of the politics of big business.

I can't believe that hes had nearly a week to think of something and the best he can come up with is " I so was worried about my workmates, I couldnt sleep at night". With each new vesion of the truth my respect lessens. Its a shame because he should be a hero at the club.

One day the real truth will come out about the whole thing and we can judge Wallaces respect then...... But then again the whole truth mighten come out.

How? What did he claim?

He virtually said that he fell on his sword to save the jobs of others.

Came across as a used car salesman ( and I apologize to all car salesman for associating them with him )

Sorry, this doesn't make sense. How could his resignation possibly have saved anyone jobs? The assistant coaches? Bowden and all the other youngsters he didn't give a good go?

He really looks like soiled goods out of all of this - neither the Swans players nor the supporters want him.

It was all a bit weird. Wallace is usually such an assured media perfomer but today was a bit of an incoherent garble. He virtually spoke uninterrupted for about fifteen minutes going on about how things like "being bought in to decide on the futures of people who were making $40,000 a year" and "of the 12 departments of the club 11 of them have new people running them this year".

I think he believes that the money the club will save by him leaving secures the future of others.
He basically said that he didn't want to sack people who had been nominated by the club to go.
Nobody likes getting rid of people, at the least it is rare, but if that is what you are getting well paid to do then simply do your job.

Did anyone else see the little bit in one of the Melbourne daily papers about a Bulldog supporter who spied him having a "friendly chat" with Steve McKernahan and Greg Williams on the Sunday night before the proverbial hit the fan?

By the way, the venue was the Anglers Tavern, a pub part-owned by Steve's brother, Corey McKernahan.

i just put something on the main board - i thought he was a pig on 3aw tonite.

he came across as self-serving and egotistical and the media showman he always is.

he just put the boots in to you lot and i thought it was the act of a bloke scorned who needed to shore up his own position.

Heard it all. It was a disgrace. What a hero, he left to save others.
Wallace the martyr. Lets go back to what is really important to us as supporters, the performance of the team.
OK he had a 53% success rate but more importantly only 28% in finals.
I have said this many times before and I have been saying it for a couple of years, forget what has happened, Wallace is an overrated coach. Don't let his media profile cloud the facts.

I can't believe last night he referred to the young guys as HIS players. Well, Plough, I am pretty sure Murphy, Power and co. would be doing the same things out on the field regardless of who is coaching. He also implied that he had something to do with recruiting. I hope Scott Clayton was listening.

Overall, it was absolute rubbish from a guy with an ego the size of the MCG.

you know..before the events of last tuesday, I thought wallace was invincable...Whenever I bagged him on here..the majority of you guys blasted the crap out of me....and now reading this topic...I can't believe the 180 degree turn that this forum has taken on wallace. I don't mean to gloat, but I was right all along. There is a lesson here for all you boys and girls, tell it how you see it. The truth hurts, but it will set you free.;)

What are you talking about Fansquad? You are trying to gloat!

When Wallace was Bulldog coach we supported him just as much as you should have! A lot of us didn't agree with his methods (not just over the past couple of seasons) but we still supported him because he stood for the club!

What's this rubbish about the truth??? That lesson doesn't apply here! The lesson is the club in bigger than Wallace, Smorgan, a player or any individual is!

Wallace is gone, stuff him.

You're right. It does sound like gloating.

I'll speak for myself here. I still think Wallace is a fantastic coach and a pretty good bloke to boot, so there's no 180 degree turn for me.

I am disappointed at the announcement of his decision to go, in both its timing and manner. That does not make me think any less of him as a coach or former player, and I will always be grateful for what he did for our club.

You seem to be the one enjoying this whole spectacle. Good for you.

Fansquad
I am on the record in saying Wallace was and is an overrated coach.
A simple analogy would be housing interest rates. Governments take credit when they go down and blame the Japanese and Americans when they go up.
Quick to wave to the crowd and take credit for the victories and blame the players for being reactive in losses.
I know it is painful but just watch our 5 finals losses in 1997-2000 and have a look at some of the match ups.
I have spoken to 3 Wallace sympathisers today who listened to 3AW last night. They are fans no more.
History will be the judge.

Fansquad, scoreboardend, PC28 ...... what ever name you are using today, enjoy the gloating while you can.

Supporting the coach, even though he makes some decisions you don't agree with, is part of supporting the club. What affronts most supporters now is the nature of his departure and the gall of giving us lies as the reasons and expecting us to be stupid enough to believe it without question. This does not change the fact that over the last 15 years, up until his departure, he was a very good coach and has been very good for the club. Thats not spinning 180 degrees, nearer to 45.

Exactly!!

I still think he's a good coach although i have no respect for him. He did well at the club and it's a shame he (and us) missed out on a flag. Hes an arseh*le but a good coach and while he was with us everyone should have supported him!

Look cant speak for Fansquad, to my knowledge I have never met the guy. But as for Scoreboardend he and I grew up in the same street and I have spoken to PC28 in person a fair few times over the last 6 months.

They are certainly not the same person.

As for Wallace he let us all down and is nothing but a prick telling us lie after lie.

Do either Scoreboardend or PC28 wear glasses?. Have you ever spoken to them at the same time? I don't doubt what you say but it may be like Clark Kent and Superman where you think they are different people but..... ( I don't want to elaborate any further just in case someone hasn't seen the movies yet or hasn't figured it out).

I have also heard that when the three of them go to Dimmatina's for lunch that only one meal gets ordered. That tells me something ........ or maybe they are just very cheap.

Thanks for the information, I will keep digging on behalf of all ( except three, or is that one?) BigFooty members.

Oh for gods sake, there must be a 15 year age difference between them.
