Current WAR CRIMES Israel - * ICC issues warrants for Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu & Yoav Gallant & for Hamas's Mohammed Deif

The ICC has also issued a warrant for Hamas leader Mohammed Deif, who Israel says they have killed.

According to the ICC, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that Deif was “responsible for the crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other form of sexual violence; as well as the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence”.

It also said there were reasonable grounds to believe the crimes against humanity were “part of a widespread and systematic attack directed by Hamas and other armed groups against the civilian population of Israel”.

For Netanyahu and Gallant, who was replaced as defence minister earlier this month, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that they “each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”.

It also found reasonable grounds to believe that “each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population”.

People far more learned than you or I have called it a Genocide. The ICJ has a case before them investigating it as a Genocide.

Let's not pretend it's not a realistic chance of being an attempted Genocide.

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know that it’s not a genocide though.

The ICJ said that it was "plausible" that there could be a genocide, which I agree could be plausible/possible if Israel were playing a very long and stealthy genocide game.

But I always thought that the likelihood of this would be slim to none and unless this ceasefire is yet another link in Israel's long-term genocide plan, then the perennial use of the word is frankly offensive and diminishes the gravitas of the word itself.

You're welcome to believe otherwise. But that's not an authoritative belief, nor does it dismiss the reality that a number of organisations do believe it's plausibly an attempted genocide.

They don't, and will never, all look the same as Germany in the 40s.

Interesting to see if there is a revolt against Hamas in Gaza post war. At the end of the day Hamas has brought nothing but death & destruction to Gazam, wants to establish a caliphate, will never accept a two state solution.

IF Hamas were to stay in power post war history shows another terrorist attack is probable once they're able to rebuild and smuggle in more weapons from their Iranian sponsors. Bearing in mind that there was an ongoing truce agreed between Israel & Hamas on Aug 7 2022 that was shattered in the worst possible way on Oct 7 2023.

Simply put until anything is proven to a legal standard Israel are innocent.

Just by watching videos out of Gaza, there's still enough weaponry for them to do another October 7 if I don't think Israel will get caught out like that again.

If Iran is neutered and the regime toppled, that might offer more security for Israel.

Blinken's comments the other day on how it might look were pretty extensive, will be interesting to see how close they are to the final agreement (assuming we get there).

The ICJ didn't say that. It's a misreporting, it's been cleared up by Judge Donahue a long time ago, but it keeps coming up again and again.

“The court test for deciding whether to impose measures uses the idea of plausibility, but the test is the plausibility of the rights that are asserted by the applicant, in this case South Africa, so the court decided that the Palestinians had a plausible right to be protected from genocide, and that South Africa had the right to present that claim in the court" - Judge Donahue.

They didn't find it was plausible that there is a genocide. If the ICJ had a really good reason to believe there was an ongoing genocide, you would imagine their provisional measures would have been a lot stronger than they were. We don't really know what they think with regards to the case though.

Rubio who I think is giving indications of toppling the regime of Iran.

"I don't know of any nation in which there is a bigger difference between the people and the people who govern them than in Iran...In no way are the clerics representative of the people... its history and contributions it’s made to humanity."

"What can not be allowed under any circumstances is a nuclear armed Iran, what can not be allowed under any circumstances is an Iran that has resources and capability to restart and continue their sponsorship of terrorism, what can not be allowed under any circumstances is an Iran with a military capability of threatening and destabilising it's neighbours ... "

Ironically, it was Trump who withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran during his last presidency.

A very concerning statement from Hamas leadership in Qatar

Global support is what in no small part, contributed in prolonging the war.

And nothing changes.
  • In this historic moment of our people’s struggle for freedom, we express pride and dignity to our people in Gaza.
  • We salute the martyrs who fell in the battle to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
  • We honor all the martyr leaders of Hamas, all factions, and the mujahideen without exception.
  • The Battle of of Al-Aqsa Flood marked an important turning point in the history of the Palestinian cause, and what happened on Oct 7th in terms of military and security achievement will remain a source of pride for our people and our nation and will be passed down from generation to generation. (source tweet)
  • The actions of the Al-Qassam Brigades struck the enemy’s core and will be recorded in history.
  • The steadfastness of our people and the bravery of our resistance thwarted the enemy’s plans.
  • Our fighters carried out operations against the enemy with unparalleled strength and determination.
  • We will not forget, nor forgive, and no one among us will compromise the rights and sacrifices of our people in Gaza.
  • Our enemy will never see a moment of weakness from us, and our people will not forget those who participated in the genocide.
  • Our people have foiled both the declared and hidden goals of the occupation.
  • We confirm today that the occupation will never defeat our people and their resistance.
  • The Mujahideen in the Jenin camp, Jerusalem, and the occupied interior played a significant role in supporting the resistance.
  • The supporting fronts have performed admirably, embodying the brotherhood of Islam and Arabism.
  • With the help of our brothers, comrades, and supporters, we are capable of rebuilding Gaza anew.
  • Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa will remain our compass and the symbol of our resistance until liberation.

We'll see in the coming days / weeks whether it's just bluster and they ultimately agree to some kind of workable long-term agreement, or not.

I'm not saying they all need to look like Nazi Germany (or Rwanda, Cambodia etc.), but those genocides had killing rates in the hundreds of thousands......per month!! And displacements by the millions.

In this instance, we have two combatants fighting each other, goaded on by one of the sides killing, raping and stealing civilians and holding them hostage for what will be like 471 days.

And all the while these hostages have endured additional atrocities within the 471 days:

“Based on the information it gathered, the mission team found clear and convincing information that sexual violence, including rape, sexualized torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment has been committed against hostages," the U.N. said in a report.

https://www.nbcnews.com/investigati...ng-information-hostages-r*ped-gaza-rcna141789

I (and many others including a significant number of governments including our own) just can't remain blind to the above facts and just because one side is much stronger than the other in a warfare situation, doesn't mean they are engaging in a campaign of mass killings / ethnic cleansing designed to displace a people for power / control of an area.

It's not like "It's a little bit of a genocide!". It's just not a genocide. And I ask those who are kinda spruiking that claim; why exactly are you spruiking it?

Hamas rejected a permanent ceasefire on UNSC 2735 10 June 2024 that was tabled by the US in the UNSC and even passed the UNSC after 14 votes for, 1 abstention.

This resolution is very similar to the one that's just being agreed aside from the stipulation that Palestine must be governed as a united entity following the end of the war with a view to agreeing a permanent two state solution.

And before the usual suspects try, the text of this resolution clearly states Israel accepted it and called for Hamas to accept it.

That's ****ing weird, because wikipedia says something completely different.
