Thank you for posting that. Would the club be giving the media any instructions on things they don't want reported? Surely the exit of Bruce previously from the board should be made more public knowledge. Just give some basic context around why he departed the board, he wasn't brutally axed.

They seem to have no problems bringing up Tredrea and his issues with channel nine. I thought for sure a couple of outlets would have picked up and reported on the post by Kevin Monteleone weeks ago.

Irrespective of a former player's career on field, why would you want them on the Board when they were accused (and settled out of court) of defrauding a significant financial benefactor of the Club?

Ironically the Club at the time promised the Monteleone family Aber would have nothing to do with the Club in an official capacity ever again, only to go back on their word now because they are shitting themselves about the prospect of having someone in their ranks who will hold everyone to account.

When you're trying to re-establish trust and connection with the fans the last thing anyone should want is bringing in someone whose integrity and ethics led him to extremely questionable activity against people who have given their lives (both professional and personally) to the Club.

Interesting that the Weber family is behind Abernethy - I wonder if there are business links there too. I'd imagine that the general supporter base would be leaning towards Tredrea, but maybe the coterie types more towards Abernethy - any that were disgusted with the IJF/Monteleone stuff might no longer be backing the club.

In August 2022, Darren Cahill, coach of Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner, vacated his AFL-appointed board seat, which Tredrea offered to fill.

But Koch knocked him back 12 months ago, much to Tredrea’s disappointment.

The chairman told him he did not want to choose one club legend over another and he would need to stand at the members’ election.

This seems a little disingenuous. IIRC Cahill recommended Tredrea as his replacement?

In fairness they did address the straight sets finals exit and the fact that Tredrea's supporters were emboldened by it. Which to be honest is the first time I've seen that point made anywhere in the media.

I'd fully support the reintroduction of capital punishment for these brain dead campaigners that continuously claim that Port supporters expect a premiership every year like it's the 80s/90s sanfl.

Only after 18 years will we know if he is a good coach, 2 premierships or an average coach because the system is structured for equality and everyone wins one in 18 years if everything is average…

Port Adelaide has never been average, hence why the Crows exist and we are the only established club outside of Victoria to play on the national stage! It’s ok to want the best for yourselves, selfishness, cockiness, pigheadedness is nothing to shy away from, without ambition we are just another Sturt, Norwood, Glenelg… no thanks!

Read the Creed, we acknowledge the is merit in defeat, but only after every human endeavour is exhausted…
