Probably his best game last night. For mine, he needs a big last month if we are any chance.

I am sick of these sighters of his potential. Time for it to be the norm.

I'll put my hand up here as someone who has been critical of Milera over the years. Even before his inhury issues he just never seemed to have much impact on the game, and post injury things certainly didn't improve for him.

But he's got better and better as this year has gone on, really providing some attacking run out of defence that can open up the opposition. Has a tendency to run himself into trouble a bit, needs to get better at judging when it's time to give it off rather than keep taking them on. But I'm more positive on him now than at any previous point in his career. Just need him to keep building on this into next year.

Wayne has been positioning himself as the short option (15-20 metres) all season. He has been overlooked a majority of the time, which is fine when there is a longer option, but when they do use him more often than not he’s damaging.
He keeps running after delivery as well to offer another alternative which is something a lot of other players should be doing.
Full credit to him.
He is one of my favourite players although his tackling could do with some work.

Pretty decent season overall

He’s definitely a half back

Can he play like last night all year next year ? Maybe

Much like our team just needs to be a bit more consistent ( especially away from home ) and we look good
His tackling for sure is an area of improvement which many have mentioned.

However those who question his attack on the contest are completely way off.

He loves being in the contest and he loves trying to extract and weave through traffic.

Should consider him in the midfield rotations as a change up with the half back role. No one is better in traffic in our side.

Not gunna lie but he was moving like Andrew Mcleod on Saturday night.

Looks good when we get it into his hands for the inside 50 - we sought him out a couple of times from marks around 60-70 out even when he was under pressure and not in pariticularly great position for the hand off and he made the hit up look easy.

How many other players in the entire league can weave out of traffic run and carry then to deliver at pace to hit a target.

I really don't think people appreciate the skillset that Milera has and what he brings to the team when in form.
the key bit - needs to be more often than it has been thus far in his career.

Does he love the contest, or does he love avoiding the contest by weaving?

Pedler loves the contest, Milera does not mind being surrounded, but I do not think he loves being at the bottom of a pack. (and tbh he should not really be there - not his job)

He doesn't back away from the contest, he goes in there to extract it and weaves his way out.

You can see him doing this all the time.

He does it in a completely different way to pedlar who wants to bash and crash his way in, but when there is a contest for the ball, he will go for it.

That's loving the contest, which is a different from loving the contact.

Rarely gets caught even when opposition get their hands on him.

There was just a few of us who kept saying Milera was a half back in the early years, when the majority view was he couldn't defend & needed to play up forward.

Glad he has been settled in his best position.

I think it’s great to see Milera find the form he was showing prior to the knee injuries. I think Milera’s kicking and evasiveness makes him a genuine weapon in various positions, not just in defense. If he can remain injury free, up his confidence further, I think it’s worth to try him in the midfield in the coming years.
