Close lol
Yeah, it was close. Ball tracker showed that ball was just inside leg stump when it hit Jones. That is close. I didn't think it spun as much as ball tracker said.

Gardner wins her 5th POTM award, has to be the Player of the Tournament, joint leading wicket taker with 22 @ 14.3 and 294 runs at a SR of 153.

Couldn't buy a run all season then that.
Two amazing innings today. The first was McGrath who couldn't get it past the infield early until she had a free hit, which she smashed into the Grandstand and from there she was gone and the Hurricanes had no answer. It was blistering, the Strikers chased down a under par but still reasonable total of 154 in under 15 overs.

The second was Gardner who struggle early, was 19 from 24 after 11 overs (strike rate just below 80) and hadn't middled a ball until she was given a dolly from Johnson which she duly dispatched to the big screen and from then she blew the Thunder away scoring 55 in 20 deliveries.

The power in Gardner's and McGrath's sixes on that little ground, you can't help but feel a little concerned about wellbeing of any spectators (primarily kids) not paying attention and getting hit by a hard white projectile that can cause some real damage. The Sixers Men's team are due to play 'the Heat at that ground in early January, 250+ and few hundred broken fingers are a real possibility. :)

What was that from Faltum. Dumb batting if ever I've seen it.

5 overs to go, just go 7-8 an over and they'd get 170.
Quite a few dumb ars** batting in that game. Hitting balls that are wides, not running the first one quick and missing out when someone misfields and missing out on runs by hitting to fielders with custard arms and not going for two. And if you are chasing 9 an over you need to go from ball 1, not **** around for 6 balls.

Looks like the Scorchers will be relying on the Sydney teams to make this season's finals. First, they need to beat the Renegades then they need either the Thunder to beat the Strikers (won't happen if McGrath continues on from yesterday) or the Sixer to beat the Hurricanes by enough that their NRR drops below the Scorchers.
