To match the bid, Hawthorn need 854 points

They hold picks 41 (412 points ), 44. (362 points) and 45 (347 points)

Would give them a surplus of 267 points, equivalent to pick 52

This is interesting 🤔
Haven already taken O'Sullivan, will the Hawks take another tall defender????

Willy Wonka Suspense GIF
Given the lack of outlay you’d say so

Remember the good old days when you didn't have to be Rainman to enjoy the draft?

****ing tell me about it

I’m pretty good with numbers but the way picks move around (up and down) after each bid does my head in

Just looking at the WCE picks as an example- started with 23,37,58

Assuming this bid accepted those picks will then be 28,37,49 with late 1st/early 2nd round bids to come on Cleary (Sydney) and Graham (Gold Coast)

What's the cumulative pick points value +/- in both scenarios with the effects of academy/FS bids? Assuming that 23 to 28 slide costs us but then we pick up more positions later however those picks are less valuable.

I hope my question makes sense 🙃

I suppose you could use the draft index point calculator to work out the next loss/gain once all the picks we worked out?
To me, it feels like we've been given the big Jonah Falcon up the derriere by the AFL.

I'm bidding on McCabe.
With a bid coming earlier than expected Hawthorn has matched Sydney's bid at pick #16 (1067) with a 20% Father Son discount (853).
Points are as follows:
#16: 1067
20% discount: 213
= 854 points needed to match

Hawthorn hold
#41: 412
#44: 362
#45: 347

854 - 412 = 442 outstanding
442 - 362 = 80 outstanding
80 - 347 = full points matched + 267 surplus

With 267 points in surplus after matching the bid as per the draft point index, Hawthorn receive pick #51
#50273
#51259
#52246

William McCabe. 197cm, 86kg

Best Position: Full Back

Draft Reasoning:
(Thinking a bid would come in the early 30's and would only take #41 to cover as part of a larger strategy)
Despite having taken another KPD earlier in the draft McCabe is likely better than the next player available at Hawthorns next live pick #41. If another pick had been held in the 20's or early 30's then I would not have matched bids as players of similar quality would have been available and provided variety.

Mate I wish you took your full allotted 12 hours, I wanted to see Mop's head explode.

How exactly do picks move with bidding?
If GC needs 24, 26 + 27 to match the Walter bid.

Do their picks 30, 34, 36 etc move up 2 spots in the order, meaning they have more points for later bids on Read & Rogers? Or do these subsequent picks retain their points value as at start of draft?
