To match this bid Gold Coast needed 2014 points

They lose picks 25,26 and 27 to match and have 203 points leftover - briztoon can you recall what happens to those surplus points as I forget
One of two things, either they are banked, to be able to be used to match another bid.

Or it generates a pick later in the draft.

For the purposes of this mock draft, I think you just bank it for the next academy bid.

So Keys, that 203 points slot in at pick 57, worth 203 points.

When the next bid comes in, pick 57 will move up the draft order (if it’s not used in matching the next bid) along with every other pick, and accrue the points value of the new pick, according to the draft points index.

Also Gold Coasts pick 26 slides to the back of the draft, in this case pick 73.

Picks no longer disappear.

Pick 24 moves up to where the bid is made, pick 2.

Pick 26 slides to the end of the draft, pick 73.

Pick 27, because it has residual points, slots in at pick 57.

I know this is slightly early, but I probably wouldn't be able to pick before mid-afternoon and didn't want to hold up kick-off.

Will do a proper write up this afternoon.

Never considered bidding for Walter, I don't think he's the better prospect and I'm not as petty as a campaigner as many think.

<insert joke about Petruccelle or Adamson here>

All things considered, easiest selection in many years. West Coast have decided to JTR - HARLEY REID. Welcome aboard!

Hook461123 you're up.
Won the mock draft already. You’re a genius carbine.

Western Bulldogs will take Larke Medal winner Ryley Sanders , he`s impossible to miss flowing blond locks rugged old pull the socks up footballer who has averaged 33 disposals in the Talent league and at the National championship playing for The Allies..

The Bulldogs need to bring in some Midfield help for Bont and Libba after losing Dunkley and Sanders fills the bill as he has a well rounded game and can play both inside and outside midfield roles ..

Strengths
Accumulates ,clean hands ,consistent ,stoppage craft , work rate ,inside game

needs work
Explosiveness

Pick 1 - West Coast Eagles - HARLEY REID

Vic Country, Bendigo Pioneers, 187cm, 85kg, MID/FWD

Why take Reid at 1? It's pretty simple.

Outside of that, he's also a pretty handy footballer. Big bodied, explosive, good in the air and able to hit the scoreboard, Harley shapes as the 'next big thing'. More impressive to me is that way he carries himself. He seems to thrive under pressure and has already proven up to the grade in the VFL. Real captain material. He'll pair perfectly with Hewett and Ginbey in a few years. Though his versatility will likely see him pairing with good mate Noah Long up forward.

Mindset is everything, and he has the mindset of a winner.

It's a no-brainer for me to retain the pick and take this kid. The FOMO is real from all angles.

STRENGTHS:

  • Contested game
  • Explosiveness
  • Scoreboard impact
  • Strength
  • Versatility
  • Pairs well with Petruccelle
  • X-Factor

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Endurance
  • Defensive running

There's that many Youtube videos of his brilliance, I simply can't post them all...

Melbourne have decided to take Dan Curtin.

With May turning 32 and Lever turning 28 and the other defenders coming into the late stage of their careers as well there is a need to start planning for life after May and Lever. Curtin is more in the Lever mold than May but by the time Lever is done Curtin will be ready to step in.

Also it's a little spite from the Dees for stealing away their precious Reid and considering Gary has been touting Curtin as a top 2 talent most of the year they would be remiss to pass on him.

Good selection will be a good player.

Read is of top 5 quality nothing wrong with bidding on him here he’s gone completely under the radar because he’s not in the open talent pool along with a few other players.
I rate his work a lot! However is amongst an even group and there's no shame in taking who you prefer over just bidding for spite.

The odds of my pick coming up while I was at the gym must have been infinitesimally small, but it happened anyway.

I’ll save my writeups for after my other first-rounder and do them both together. Let’s just say if trades had been allowed I would have tried to split this pick and trade down, because I didn’t like the options for GWS.

And I’ll try to tag ThePuma #9 properly this time.

Sorry for the hold up gents, didn’t know it had begun.

Since I’m picking for Geelong and have some late picks I want to bring them as far forward as I can so I going to be a huge campaigner and nominate

Jordan Croft

If Dogs match the bid then I will select

Jake Rogers

If Gold Coast match

Nate Caddy.

I’ll reserve the next post and edit with a write up once my pick has been confirmed.

Pick 12

GEELONG CATS SELECT

Untitled.jpg images.jpg Untitled 2.jpg

Nate Caddy

Northern Knights/Vic Metro
FWD/MID, 193cm, 91kg
Talent League: 9 games, 16.3 disposals, 2.7 goals
Northern Knights Best & Fairest Runner up 2022

STRENGTHS:

  • Overhead marking
  • Speed
  • Aerial ability
  • Wingspan
  • Agility
  • Agression

WEAKNESSES:

  • Ground balls
  • Height

Nate Caddy is the nephew of Tigers premiership player Josh Caddy and is an intriguing prospect. Some consider him potentially undersized as a key position forward in today's modern game but what he lacks in height he makes up for with his aerial ability, enormous wingspan, large hands and overhead marking. His agility is also impressive finishing 10th at the Draft Combine.

Whist he primarily played forward for most of the year he also started on ball at times for the Northern Knights and Vic Metro where he would drift forward so he has shown signs of being quite versatile, even having a few high possession games throughout the year.

However his most likely position in the AFL will be as a forward. His best game for the year was probably against Bendigo where he starred with 6 goals but equally as impressive is that he was only held goalless twice all year.

He is most likened to Charlie Curnow and i think he is a perfect selection for Geelong considering their ageing forward line and i can see him earning games next year as a third up tall in the forward line.
