I hope that is not the plan, after reading that apparently Jackson Paine has been in Brisbane looking around.

I like the way Paine goes about it, and I think he has a future. I know with White and Lynch along with Cloke and Reid up forward, the likelihood of Paine breaking through next year will be hard, but Karnezis is not a fair swap for Paine surely. I can't believe he didn't get a game this year, because he seemed to kick 3's and 4's in the Twos, and looked alright. Might be like a Black for North, spent years honing his skills in the Werribee side, now look at him.

Based on games played.. its pretty fair..

Paine hasn't shown alot at AFL level and neither has Karnezis albeit starved of opportunity, but both have been very successful at 2nd's level.

Karnezis would have a better chance to crack into the best 22 than what Paine has unfortunately purely based on his versatility. Paine is behind Cloke and White and alot would have to change for him to play.

I for one hope he stays, 45 goals in the VFL is a great effort and hopefully future structures see's him get some game time..

I think with Paine it must be a personality clash thing with Bucks. As we have seen with Heath, this doesn't end well for players.

Sadly for us I think Paine will go elsewhere and be a very capable forward. I am hoping somehow he stays but I can't see it happening at this point.

Kicked 45 goals in the VFL this year from 19 games (played every game this year, which I think made him the only player on our list to do so).

I like the kid, I think he has some potential. Not as the primary anchor of the forward line, but a component who, despite his weaknesses, could offer something as a secondary key target. And you'd think that we wouldn't be moving him on given the relative lack of depth in his position, even accounting for Jesse White.

But we all said the same things about Ceglar in 2012: had form that might have warranted a senior call-up, relative lack of depth in his position, yet was unlucky to miss out in a year when we played most of the list.

And come list lodgement time, he was cut.

I just don't think Buckley rates Paine.

Yet we may be hanging on to Gault, who is deadest useless.

Would not be surprised at all if it's a straight swap, Paine for Karnezis.

If that goes through then welcome to Collingwood Cameron McCarthy.

Personally I'd be surprised if that were the deal because it would mean upgrading a second rookie or taking a 3rd live pick in the draft. Which are moves we look to have shied away from so far this trade period.

How the hell do you figure that??

He's just not that good.

Paine will never make it with us.... If he was going to, it would have happened by now.
Fair swap if you ask me.
Paine across half back in the seniors could work. He had a blinder in the reserves across half back. I'd rather try a guy in a different position before we axed them.

Hope he doesn't go.

I must be one of the few that really rates him. Even in the seniors in the limied games he's played he's kicked a goal or two each game. That's all you want from a 2nd or 3rd forward.

He's a key forward and has only been on the list for 2 seasons....

Must keep Jackson Paine ! cant believe he's not getting more game time, its a mystery....

Look at the Hawks scoring power. Numerous forward options like Gunston, Bruce ect - PAINE is exactly that. Slot him forward next to Cloke, White & Elliot (Lynch reserves) and give us scoring options! the kick it to cloke game plan doesnt work...

Dont need Karnezis especially with Seedy/Marley/Goldsake all playing a similar role

The fact of 45 goals in the twos is really what makes me think he is worth more than Karnezis. I just think his body shape and ability is perfect for the AFL, but he may not fit, because we like the shit truck idea and White and Lynch will always get a game over Paine in the current plan. What about when Grundy and Witts both play, the third tall forward wont need to be able to swing into the ruck. That is where Paine comes in in the future I thought.

He's not big enough in my opinion to play the position we need him to play.
Not agile enough to play the Gunston role. Not big enough to play the monster.
Maybe a move to the back line would work but I think Karnezis would be more valuable across the back line than Paine would be.

Just my opinion.

Karnezis is a third tall like Paine... And Karnezis would give us a far greater point of difference than Paine.

I would do this trade. Two players who probably won't make it, deserve a chance in a different enivronment.

He didn't get a lot of it when he played seniors but he used it well.

45 goals in the VFL is nothing to sneeze at for a second year player.

He'll be a solid VFL player and nothing more than that. He hasn't got the pace, build or tackle intensity at all in his game and he just isn't big enough to ever develop into a big body FF, at best he'll be an average 3rd tall option and I'd rather have White, Lynch or Reid play that role.

Karnezis may not be a superstar but he'll provide a hell of a lot more flexibility and utility than Paine could.

Paine does not have it! if he did he would be playing seniors. too small for key position... to big for small forward. doesn't chase... wont last more than 2 yrs on lions list. Martin offers more thank Paine as a forward. upgrade martin!!

I Agree with Pie Guy. :thumbsu:

dont underestimate Paines goal kicking ability! He gets the best defender each week in the reserves & is a true forward (hard to find). Stick with Paine IMO

Looking at Paine he perhaps only gets a tick for marking and leading patterns, can obviously get on the end of it at VFL level. But kicking for goal is poor/average, ability at ground level is poor, second efforts/forward pressure is poor, based on that and with the knowledge that next year is a strong draft for KP players I'd trade him for Karnezis.

Paine is a smaller, slower, weaker version of Cloke and always will be.

The SLOWER part is the worst part.

Cloke had 29, that's right, 29 tackles for the season and played all games bar 1!

We can't have another player being defensively useless in the forward line. Cloke gets away with it because he is an animal and generally retained the ball in his hands 75% of the time in the forward line.

Players who can take pack marks seem a rare commodity in today's football and it's Paine's greatest strength.

Unfortunately his lack of defensive pressure has made him difficult to pick.

Definitely keep for one more season.
