We better not make a straight swap Jackson Paine for Patrick Karnezis (Edit: too bad, we did)

Paine won't have an AFL career

He is very slow which means a slow 198 cm defender can play on him and have 7cms + on all delivery's bombed on him. Also provides no defensive pressure. Also has no versatility.

Can survive in the VFL where key defenders lack height

I still won't Rule Paine out of playing some good AFL Games

I think some people are being a bit harsh on Paine.

At the end of the day, for most below average-to-average professional sportsmen, your career will boil down to being at the right place at the right time.
(for example, even though he's now elite, Luke Mcpharlin only ended up playing AFL because a Hawthorn recruiter suggested he play 1 colts game before the draft)

I think Paine has the qualities to be at least a decent AFL forward. He was given opportunities here, but was clearly not up to the standard Bucks was hoping for. But - we are a club that has a vision of pushing for a flag, soon - so that is the decision that had to be made - and they must not have felt he was going to be good enough for a spot in our team. (or at least had less of a chance than Karnezis).

However at a club like Brisbane, he will get more opportunities - and if he is able to take them more often than not, then he could end up having a decent (or better) career.

I wish him all the best on the move. (well almost - as long as he doesnt turn out to be better than Karnezis)

Heard a rumor, Paine was seen down at the Lions training ground the other day and the track-watchers reckon 'HE'S FLYING!' Tony, 'FLYING'.

I feel sorry for the lions

Literally lost all their decent young players from the past 2-3 years in 1 off season, have no future to look foward to in the short or medium term. No doubt they will be talking up West Mcguane and Paine as superstars just to make themselves feel better

Let them have it I guess

No harm in him forging some kind of career up here, as he was just never going to have a regular spot in our 22 but may be good enough elsewhere. Square peg, round hole syndrome.

A bit like Tom Young last year, and I hope he does well for himself.
