Fevola will be on the trade table, im convinced. As much as it would kill me to see him in a Pies jumper I think he would be a huge get. Cloke would benefit significantly from the reduced attention and you would have 4 players capable of kicking a bag at any time (Fevola, Cloke, Anthony, Medhurst), Dick and Davis to mop up the spoils, Didak & Thomas to hit the scoreboards from the flanks and quality midfielders capable of silky delivery into your multitude of options.

Problem is that Collingwood will be reluctant to offer enough in order to get the deal done. Picks outside the top 10 are not great value in this draft and will not be of interest to Carlton (we already traded our pick #11 and want to get rid of #27 for Everitt). Carlton will want Reid or N.Brown along with another young fringe player. Wont happen.

In my humble opinion...........

We need a "Fev" at FF.
This would improve Cloke and Anthony immeasurably.

We need an additional hard inside mid to augment Pendles and to free Davis to roam the flanks, which is his real domain.

We need Brian Lake to complete an already very good back six and cover Presti's impending retirement. Keep Presti one more year as insurance while N.Brown and Reid both rotate from the VFL side.

Keep Leigh Brown, as he is in good form and provides an all important fall back in several key areas, forward, back and ruck.

Toovey, Goldy should remain in the first 22 all year.

Trades?
Who to trade?

Dunno. Bryan is the obvious first off the rank, but then????

700K for a d1ckhead pushing 30 years of age, I can see their point.
He is contracted to carlton

Just like woey you want be paying all of it

and if he kicks 80 goals a year, then i can handle him being an idiot. He doesnt drink during the season just get him to pull his head in slightly thats all

It very much seems you are blinded by the fact he has caused us that much pain

700K for a d1ckhead pushing 30 years of age, I'll keep the money and our first pick and take Panos thanks.

- I'll give you the ******** point, but Collingwood has a good track record of managing ********s
- He is 28, very durable and an 80+ goal All Australian Full Forward. Age is no issue for any club that is not in a rebuilding phase
- Panos won't be available with Pick 14

Do Collingwood want to just keep making up the numbers in the 8 or actually win a flag? Fevola could be the difference...

Plus we have the advantage of having Bucks to set him straight and a captain with heart to inspire him.

He'd probably settle in when Kruezer arrives as well.

This.

Fev can improve our team enormously (although we'd have to play a different style to get the most out of him imo).

I reckon there'd have been a few games this year where Fev would've been able to get us over the line.

I'll take a ******** at the club if we can win a flag. We aren't boy scouts or whatever, ********s are always going to be in footy.

Let's apply just a little logic for a second, if Fevola's next 2 or 3 years was really going to be so good as to outweigh his behaviour then Carlton wouldn't be shopping him around in the first place.
Is that the same logic applied to Ben Cousins by West Coast? They didn't cut him because they thought he'd be a poor player.

Carlton won't be a genuine falg threat for 2-3 years, which is about as long as Fevola has left. We will be a genuine challenger with Fevola for the next 2-3 years. There's the difference.

Carlton won't be trading Fevola because he won't be a good FF. Don't kid yourself.

Fevola would be just another player with us?

Please....we lack an elite forward. He'd be heads and shoulders above all our other forwards. He can kick a bag of 6+ while having multiple opponents on him.

He'd not only kick goals, but free up our other forwards. We would have other options, unlike Carlton, and these other options would excel with Fevola in the forward line.

Or I guess we could throw Dawes at FF and hope he provides that kind of output....lawl.

Fev would be extremely handy, and with a supped up ruck and ready made extractor could mean a flag this year or next. That's the prize, but there definitely would have to be stringent behavioural clauses as part of a deal.

Because no idiot player who has thought he was bigger then the club has ever woken up once being traded?

Pluger rings a bell.

Also I can see how it's Fev's fault that the other key fowards around him are no good. Getting Fev would help our other goal kickers not hinder them. Let's not also forget that the in 08 the lack of a dominate key target cost Geelong as they were forced wide to get the ball inside 50 hence the poor conversion.

Take another look at the Grand Final and tell me who won.. the team with a dozen goal kickers or the team with one outstanding goal kicker (who is in his prime by the way)

Lets let Hine and co decide this one.. because they won't do it and they won't do it for the reasons I've laid out
It was a wet weather game, which should be taken into consideration.

Rewind to a week or so before the Grand Final and watch St Kilda vs Western Bulldogs. St Kilda were dragged across to line by their superstar KP forward, he won them the game. On the flipside, the Dogs continually kicked long into the forward line to no success, because they had no genuine KP forward to take a mark, or at least make a contest. Funnily enough, we had a similar problem against St Kilda in the qualifying final.

I agree with Shawthing - So how does this look.

Pick 14 - Keep and draft KPP long term gain

Trade 2nd/3rd rnd - Ruckman (Charman/Mumford/Johnson) short term gain

Trade Player/Pick Inside mid (Ball/Tuck/Harris) Short term gain

Trade player/Pick KPP (Drum - Freo) short term gain

Other draft pick - Potential Outside mid to develop Long term gain

Is there any thought of moving Nathan Brown FWD and just bite the bullet and develop Reid in 2010 regardless as CHB?

2010

Obrien Presti Shaw
Drum Reid Maxwell
Sidebottom Ball Pendlebury
Didak N. Brown McCaffer
Davis Cloke Anthony

Ruck - Wood Swan Thomas

Bench. Charman, Beams, Dick, Goldsack/Cox

I dont know TBH fun though!

Geelong massacred us so heavily in the midfield that Carey, Lockett, SOS and Roos wouldn't have gotten us into the Grand Final. We're not going to get near the level that Geelong and St Kilda were at this year, until our young mids get bigger and stronger.
This:thumbsu:
Butcher is no guarantee for top 10, but he has a kicking problem, he kicked 1-7 in west gippy latrobe GF. but I'd take the chance with him other than Fevola. you have to remember Carlton's midfield were better this year than last, and fev kicked less goals, he could be on the wane.

This.

If we are looking for immediate improvement, a bigger bodied midfielder will benefit us more then Fevola. We got smashed in the middle against the top 2. We got the ball inside 50 only 30 times against St.Kilda.

If we cannot get a bigger bodied midfielder via trade, draft a young KPP with pick 14 who will be thereabouts in about 3 years to back up the matured JA & Cloke (possibly Dawes). By then Sidey, Beams & J Mac will be 22/23 and ready to have a big impact at AFL level. Just in time for Bucks to take over.

I'll bet my right arm and a months worth of my pay that Fev kicks at least 180 goals over the next 3 seasons. While Pano's doesn't get to 100.

jack anthony will manage that too - and he's just starting out.. and jack anthony will also manage to get in a few a tackles and chases with it....

180 goals over 3 full seasons is only 60 goals a season @ $700,000.. not worth if you ask me.... rusling will come good and jack will get better...

dont get mewrong i dont see him making us any worse, but is he worth it.. do you think he alone will help us win a flag?? he provides no leadership, second efforts are rare, and he wont get the luxury of 100 passes a game directed to him a game like he does at carlton..

Having Fev would be a huge, huge, HUGE boost and give us a serious chance at the flag next year. He's an 80+ goal per year All Australian Forward, those don't grow on trees, Panos won't even be close to Fevolas output in the next 3 years and even then there's a better than even chance that he never becomes as good as Fevola is right now.

Anyone who doesn't want him on our list must have a coconut for a head. I think more people need to read the 'pickflation' thread in Drafts and Trades, because holding on to pick 14 while shooing away a player of Fevolas quality is madness.

Sydney, West Coast and Geelong have won 4 of the last 5 flags and none has a much better group of KP players than Collingwood. Scarlett is a champion. Hall was good at the time and Barry was good as well but far from outstanding. Glass was good when WCE won

What all of those teams had is a ruckman or two and a wining midfield - as did Brisbane but they also had a first rate goal to goal line. Hawthorn didn’t have the rucks but they had a very good midfield and a top notch forward line.

Our spine is good enough to win a flag. Our rucks and midfield are not. We don’t just need midfielders – not common garden variety ones anyway. We have plenty of numbers. What we don’t have are some vital ingredients. We need more toughness, more pace and more skill. That is why Burgoyne would have been great. He isn’t tough but he has pace and skill and gets quality clearances. I think Beams, Sidebottom and McCarthy will be good midfielders for us but we will still lack pace and they won’t be able to be winning flags off their own back for a few years yet.

I would love someone like Fevola. Short of that, there is no point getting a b grader just because he is tall. Whatever we trade for from here on has to be quality. Getting a bargain or three that slots into the bottom end of our best 22 for a late pick and a dud will not make nearly enough difference to our premiership chances.

We need a ruckman first, a midfielder second and a full forward third. Whatever it is though has to have class and I mean Fevola class not Clement class.

If Collingwood’s board were as serious and as brave as they should be about premierships they would have moved mountains to get Judd, they would have tried a heck of a lot harder to get Burgoyne and they would be working over time on Fevola and someone like Jolly. I would settle for King for a year or two. We should have got him 2 years ago.

if we dont get some more onballers we will be in the same situation as this year Didak, Davis and Thomas are not onballers. they dont have a heart beat between them. they are pockets and flankers at best. Fraser has to go as well.(years of waiting with no results). So if we dont get some Mids we will crash again. if davis, didak and thomas are roaming and sharking from Dawes or Reid with cloke or anthony it looks a better show. So a Ball, Mcglynn, Lovett and a Kennedy with Sidebottom, Beam, Peddles and Swan all rotating. I believe that might look better then this year. And i know Lovett has issues but i rate him surrounded with a decent team.
