Opinion We need to move back to the MCG

Should the Bombers play the majority of home games at the MCG (let's say a minimum of 7)?

Anyone else find the place (Docklands) drafty?
Yes, now it is. They have opened up an outdoor area on level three that lets all the cold air into the stadium. Level three concourse may as well be the G in winter. They must have had March weather or Big Bash cricket in mind when they did this part of the renovation.

I know we want to hold onto the history of the club but is it time to sever ties to Windy Hill? Move into the 21st century and play 100% of our VFL games a Tullamarine?
Not if you like going to VFL games.

Under the way Windy Hill is now, you could make the argument that it's not up-to-standard. But with the redevelopment, when they start it, the club should do everything they can to play VFL games there.

The MCG should be split evenly for all Melbourne teams and interstate teams should only play there when possible.

I understand it is a money and fans thing but if we want the grand final here every ear we need to start making it more accessible to every team.

Being the boards reigning poster of the year I have to say, considering the Grand Final is held there, there I can't agree with that approach. They deserve as many games there as they can get.

Yeah I worded it wrong. That is what I meant.

Interstate teams should always play there.

Marvel should only ever be two Vic Teams playing.

Prior to watching Dan26’s video I didn’t realise Carlton next season now have six MCG home games, with just five at Docklands. How is it that the home game allocation across the two stadiums can change just like that for Carlton, yet Essendon seem to be stuck with the 7/4 split?

Is Carton’s home ground the MCG? I’m pretty sure it’s not Docklands like it is for us.

No. But it's still much ado about nothing. His point is irrelevant, we play 8 games at the MCG annually so it isn't as if we never play there

It's about 1/3 of the season. Breaking it down:

35% at the MCG
39% at Docklands
26% elsewhere

It's hardly worth bitching about.
Agree.
We are shit for many reasons but it is not because we play a few more games at Docklands. We have also been a very good side playing home games there. We are shit because we have no players equivalent to Hird , Lloyd , Lucas , Fletcher and co.

surely the thread title should be edited in some way to note that the Boards reigning poster of the year voted No in the poll, meaning that No is the winner of this poll. this should be made clear to all users

DONS DEPARTURE CONSIDERATION

Perhaps Essendon should be careful what it wishes for.
The Bombers are closing in on a new agreement for their home games, in the hope of playing less at Marvel Stadium and more at the MCG.

But Brad Scott’s team may be giving up a big advantage by leaving Docklands, given Essendon has the best home game record at the stadium of any tenant club in the last four seasons.

The Bombers have won 17 home games and lost just 9 under the roof since the start of 2021.
That is miles ahead of their MCG home record of five wins, one draw and 10 losses in the same time span.
The winning percentage of 65.4 is the best of any Marvel Stadium club in that time, ahead of the Western Bulldogs (55.6 per cent).

Bombers coach Brad Scott, who led North Melbourne to four finals appearances as a Docklands tenant, said he had no concerns about where his side should play its home games.

“We will play wherever we are fixtured to play. Those discussions are more at the CEO and board level, I just coach the team wherever we are fixtured to play,” he said.

“If our biggest issue is between playing at Marvel or the MCG, we are going pretty well.”
Essendon will play seven home games at Marvel Stadium and four at the MCG in 2025.
