WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
OMFG..............WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A YEAR!!
WHAT A TEAM!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A DAY YESTERDAY!!!! :|

i know i havn't waited the longest for this but 21 years and 4 major disappointments can hurt.....(5 if you include the semi against sydney) but WHAT A WAY TO END THE DROUGHT!
and to be able to say i was there for it makes it feel even better!

ONYA BOYS!!

we started a conga line down the middle of moorabool street doing a "ohla ohla" soccor type chant on the road, it was amazing how many people came running across and joined in. undiscribable thats the only thing you can say about the partying.
Indescribable?

Well done geelong me and my mates got absolutely smashed to celebrate and only one of us was a Geelong supporter.

drunk by the end of the game and didn't stop till 2a.m

best day/night ive ever been involved in

wish i was in geelong though but I made amense by screaming out the cats theme song with some other cat fans at clubs

FUUUUUUUUUUCKKKK YESSSSSSSSSS

this has been the best week ever. rage tickets and now this... god yes.

dude, please dont bring up rage tickets on here. this is the only place i can hide from the dissapointment of lining up at 6am and missing out....

But i will see them at BDO, a geelong premiership and seeing my favourite band after waiting my whole life to see both those things within 3 months.

This is surreal!

I assume Port won it.

I couldn't bring myself to watch it.

Anything good happen?

Yep, spin is spin, can't turn a turd into a French Soufflé..... which means whoever was the best side would more than likely win and if there is one side far, far, far superior to the other then they would likely win by a near record margin and the opposition coach would strangle on his own tie but unfortunately given the length of time and so many Cat flags since my memory escapes me!

This thread was well before my time on the forums, but it was great to read some of the responses from back then. I drove over from Adelaide to watch it at Kardinia Park. I barely remember what happened after I got to town. What a night it was. 😅

I do remember lining up for a Zinger Box at KFC on Moorabool/Ryrie St. at some ungodly hour of the night and debating a dude about who'd have the better career out of Gaz or Nath. I was convinced young Nathan was going to be an absolute superstar.

You were arguably right if only young Nathan was on board with it.

Wish I had the money at the time to bum a lift with you

Problem was..... that Nathan also needed convincing but alas he just chose to waste whatever long term potential he might have had to be a builder. Came back for a short stint at Gold Coast FC 4 years later but the bird had well a truly flown. Part of the brief of being a champion or outstanding AFL footballer for any length of time is that you've got to be 100% committed and driven and unfortunately for us Cat fans that just wasn't in Nathan's make-up to become that person along with the glamour, the media and public attention which was so far removed from the person he was, which is fair enough. Ability wise he showed some phenomenal talent which Cameron Mooney quite often expressed when seeing Nathan train, pretty much said he was a rare talent with unlimited potential.

I was watching with a couple of mates and we were all in awe of Nath's sticky hands. It's been many years since I watched the replay, but I remember how remarkably assured he was overhead. Just kick the ball into his vicinity and he'd clunk them from everywhere. I thought Nath would be the next Nick Riewoldt.

I remember telling the boss that I'm going to down tools early and try to leave by midday so that I could get to Geelong at a reasonable time on Friday. We had shit go wrong and I didn't get on the road until 5.00pm (thankfully from Mt. Barker). I missed the contingent of Port supporters, and didn't arrive in Geelong until 3.00am. 😂

The boss was a mad Crows fan and hated Port like most Crows fans do. A win for the Cats was a win for the Crows. And boy, did they live vicariously through our win. Driving back on Monday with the Cats scarf hanging out the window the whole way home... ah, what pleasant memories. 😊

I have been the catalyst for so much port-crows grudge discussions over the years. You just bring up your team in a convo and the crows fans know their marks in the group and start firing away. You don't even have to say anything.

I married into a port family though and it's something of a forbidden topic. I have a 2007 framed team photo with photos of a few players celebrating. It's resigned to the shed 😭

The other thing I see is that every year, every GF that turns into a shellacking my wife just gets quietly hopeful that the record gets broken. By the final siren her hopes are dashed all over again.

I had been here for about a year when we won 07.

Amazing time but legit feels like a lifetime ago.
