Welcome Welcome Jaeger O'Meara!!!

Apologies gents, but allow me to vent just a little.

It's actually cactus how bad the media piled on JOM when he joined the Hawks with a bung knee, almost like they never wanted him to get over it, to the point where Kornes would say he was the worst trade ever, and nuffies on bigfooty still to this day would say that he's no good or that was better at the Suns, before the knee, when all his stats show that to be bullshit.
I have no doubt that will change now he's home in WA with a bit of hometown love though.

JOM is a bull. He attacks the contested ball with pace, he takes bodies with him and he's always been a very team oriented player and leader. He, along with Sicily was in line to be our next captain and did a great job of captaining the club this year while McEvoy was injured. You guys will love him, and I have no doubt get a new found respect for the player that he is, because he certainly didn't deserve to be so universally panned as he had been while at the Hawks.

I wish him luck.
Coming at the end of the hawthorn reign there would have been a shed load of pressure too.
Hope the west coast controlled media don't pile on him next, though Luke Jackson should be baring the majority of that ..

JOM AND Tippa both wearing purple next year...

Sorry folks, there is literally no way for me to properly process either one of those ideas in a hurry... let alone both of them at once.

This whole thing is just 'bizzaro world' levels of unforseeable...

Don't get me wrong, I love both these players, and are delighted they are here!

I just don't know whether to trust that feeling of happiness yet, cause it still feels more like a mental episode at this point, and frankly it's scaring the living f*K outta me.

There's no way one would ever contemplate the possibility of all this stuff happening in advance as a hypothetical.... and trying to adjust to the unforseen reality of it after the event, feels somehow even weirder...

It's very much like waking up stark naked in bed, lying in-between two of your favourite high-school sweethearts... but without any recollection of how you all got there, or what the hell happened last night, being unable to recall if it's your birthday or not, and wondering why is it your spouse is now suddenly standing in the room smiling down at you and bringing you breakfast in bed.

Is there something going on here I'm supposed to be to celebrating?
Am I really in a lot of trouble?
Do I need to call a divorce lawyer?
Am I having a stroke?
Do I pinch myself?
Was my drink spiked?

The average extent of one's life experience just does not prepare you for this kind of shit, and without a proper field of reference, everything becomes just rose-tinted confusion, blended with bewildered distrust.

You really want to be happy about it all... but you're too busy sitting there like a perplexed chump, chomping on a mouthfull of toasted crossiant and holding a glass of orange juice, just waiting for an inevitable karmic jump-scare that might not actually ever come.

Welcome aboard Jager! (it's pronounced with a 'Y' I note) ...and thanks for making us all breakfast.

I'll be a hell of a lot happier to see you I'm sure mate, ...once I finally get over the shock that you're actually here at all.

Need to start getting over that PTSD

Aish
Acres
Lobb
Conca
Colyer

Just to name a few recent ones have all been good for the club

Surely there have been more positive trades than negative ones ?
Absolutely in more recent times. Exciting stuff. We have had the odd win but I'm not going to undertake any sort of historical revisionism over Freo's trading and drafting. We have got it very right at times... and we haven't.

The PTSD is hard to kick.

I want ALL our trade acqusitions to tremendously succeed.

I'm just sitting here waiting for a mate and a Fremantle premiership.

In a weird way I always thought he would eventually play for us. It feels like he has come home, almost like it was always meant to be. I personally think (barring injuries) that he will want to do all he can to help us get that first flag, and he’s playing for the club he has wanted to play for.

The upside far outweighs the risks, and it’s great to see the club taking this one, good on em 👍🏻

I think this could be a really astute pick up and we were definitely an injury or two away from being exposed for lack of depth in the midfield. I just don't really get it from the Hawks point of view? Do they feel like they weren't bottoming out as much? Wages? Idk feels like the classic cutting too deep move that teams like north made.

On one hand we paid too much. A contracted ruck and a F2 for what will be a 29 year old next year who's solid but unspectacular and has bung knees.

On the other hand, Bell and Walls have been fantastic in the trade/draft area throughout most of the rebuild. So they deserve our trust and JOM deserves the benefit of the doubt for now.

He's either going to be an amazing recruit and I'll have pie on my face for thinking otherwise, or he's going to be Freo's #1 whipping boy alongside Banfield. I don't see an in between for this acquisition.
I’m going the other way and suggest he will be a great Mr Inbetween. Won’t generate the hype of the Jackson/Serong/Brayshaw crew but won’t play a lot of meh games like Tucker, Colyer, Henry were doing. More like Brodie. Clearances, hard runnning and beating an opponent.

Managing Jaeger's knee swelling is easy for us. When ever he has too much swelling, or the week before a top 8 clash, we rest him for Erasmus.

Have a senior and proven elite mid for finals and big games, while still getting to blood Erasmus.

Getting him to 100 games would be delicious...how many did he play for Hawthorn?
99

I agree. He is a meticulous with his preparation. If he has a group of sons and daughters they will learn some very good habits from dad.

We'd need him to play five years with plenty of finals to get to 100 games but keeping him around longer to achieve it could be a smart club move for twenty years from now.
