Correct. And my opinion changes as soon as I see the photoshopped picture of JOM in a freo jumper. Blame the media team not me.

Hard to be excited about him when it feels like we caved on Lobb and Meek just so we could get him to the club.

They were always gone man, be it this season or the next. We gotta make the most of these things be it for the clubs perspective or the players personal perspective. Its the way of the world these days . I'm just disappointed we missed out on Sharp. Hopefully next year.

Used to live up there as a grad. There was a senior GNFL grand final they used to talk about in 2010 where 16yo Jaeger and 15yo Jack Martin went head-to-head off a wing and completely dominated. Jaeger won the BOG medal, Martin not far behind in second. Both playing against men as high schoolers, in a really serious league. Glad he's back in WA, and in purple. It's nice to see.

That’s the one my friend was talking about. I never realized Martin played too. Cheers

Confirmation that the Hawks are paying a "portion" of his salary
In a trade with Hawthorn, Fremantle received O’Meara and a future fourth round selection in exchange for Meek and the future second round pick received from the Bulldogs, with the Hawks paying a portion of O’Meara’s 2023 salary.

Absolutely bizarre he's now a Freo player. Will definitely make us a stronger team for next year
I think he'll be an awesome addition Snuff for what its worth. No one else is talking him up so I will. I think he'll bring way more class then most here think. Speaking to a Hawthorn supporting mate he thinks we got a bargain deal. O'Meara in recent times hasn't had the issues with his knees that some are making out according to him and was in some of his best form as recently as 2021 where he finished 3rd in the best and fairest. Last year he also played really well when onball but spent a lot of time at half forward. I think many will change their minds on his recruitment once they see him play a bit. He's really good at applying pressure and tackling which was a weakness with our centre clearance rotations last year. If we get 2021 Jaeger then he'll be a terrific recruit and Fyfe will be able to spend most of his time forward.

My early tip for the recruit of the year. He'll have a point to prove. Watch him and Fyfe train the house down and be in beast mode next season. His speed is actually really good according to my friend so take that for what its worth but the knee issues seem behind him. I think he'll be one of the best recruits in our history and the Hawks will regret their decision massively. Time will tell.

What a deeply surreal 24 hours.

If there's a slot he fills I feel like it's Mundy - not like-for-like obviously, but a dynamic, experienced body and a bit of heavy hitting support for Andy and Caleb.

A centre bounce set-up/rotation of Brayshaw, Serong, O'Meara, Fyfe, Brodie, Jackson and Darcy is certainly something.

I’m gonna choose to believe that after his 5 years with chronic injuries at the Suns, he’s needed a full 5 years at the Hawks to condition his body back to its full strength and athleticism and now at 28 he’s about to play career best footy for Freo and realise all that pre-draft hype from his junior years.

His knees aren't chronic by any stretch. He was in All Australian calculations for most of 2021. His speed is not an issue according to Hawk supporters. I think he'll be one of our best recruits ever but I'm gutted to lose the key forward we need so I get why people are disappointed.

I can see other teams midfield die in the second half.

Oh well, I'm happy we got JOM, seems weird we got him out of nowhere, especially after Jackson . Nice that we're now a destination club, 🙂 blatantly preferred to the rabble down the road.

I think he is a really good pick who will be awesome to have around the club - my early pick for 2023 clubman. Doesn't need to be a superstar; just set a good standard and bring some older player wisdom to a young team.
He's de boer with much better skills. Great role model to have around the young list. He'll be hungry for a flag too.
