Wasn't keen on bringing him in last year due to the double-grabbing marking attempts. He's starting to really take them cleanly now. I think it might be a basketball thing? But the way he marks is really different to your regular afl player. Huge believer now. He's becoming more and more like the key forward that we desperately need.
Yes us naysayers are going to taste, he's getting better and better.

I think it's a shoulder strength thing. You'll notice he one grabs all the marks behind centre, all the defensive marks are one grab clunks but the forward ones have a guy hanging off him and they are the two efforts.

It was interesting to note that at times last night Treacy became the second string ruckman, as he has been since Darcy went out.A great move from Longmuir I think, as it gave Jackson more room to move up forward.
Our forward stucture is much better when Jackson can play a large amount of time in the forward line.

Wrong thread for it but Tracey has a great knack for going up in a forward pack and tapping it down to his feet into space. Did it a few times yesterday and our smalls weren't really onto it but if they build that connection it's going to be a serious weapon.

Yep. I hope the club has now realised that Jackson isn't a number 1 ruck and we need to play one if Darcy goes down again.

Best player in the comp
The most amazing thing about Luke is his kicking (off both feet) and hands in close. He's in our top 3 for score involvements across the year which is pretty remarkable for a big man. Plus Kane Cornes is now officially the worst footy journo in Australia after his call that we should trade Sean Darcy as it was a luxury to have two good ruckman when (according to him) we have other needs on the ground. The Darcy/Jackson combination is the biggest strength in our team. The bullocking work of Darcy is the perfect compliment to Luke's around the ground athleticism. Take for example the goal kicked by Luke from the goal square. He was playing in the ruck at the time when the Essendon ruck (Phillips) ran towards the play to attempt a smother Luke took the opportunity to run ahead of the play and get so far ahead of his man that the Essendon ruck was 50 metres away when he kicked the goal. He was also a nails length away (or possibly not but that was the call by the umpire) from having 4 goals last night which would have been seen as a breakthrough game for Luke in terms of his goal kicking.

These highlights are insane

Treacy shapes as our most important resigning of the players unsigned for next season currently.

It's funny, in the space of half a season we've gone from 'Jackson is a number 1 ruckman only and Freo are stupid if they think he can play in the same team as Darcy', to Jackson not even always being the #2 ruck because he's so much better playing elsewhere.

I also think Melbourne used him in a way that didn't maximise his marking potential. At Freo when not rucking he's been playing a roaming role in the forward line or midfield. At Melbourne they seemed to have him as their deepest forward most of the time when he wasn't rucking.

Kane's comments aged well.

I'm a believer and I'd like to go back in time and slap myself for not wanting him.

Nothing to say he can't become a very good ruckman . Just at the moment he is far more important to us as a part time ruck, part time forward, and part time mid.

My take on Nic Nat was his presence. Imagine being an on baller and knowing this fast hard tackling beast was right up your arse about to drop you as you got the ball. He scared the s**t out of midfields. Don’t get me wrong I hate WCE only a little bit more than Carlton but he did brig that to the game
Why are we talking about Natanui in the past tense? WC had the foresight to give him a nice long contract. 2024 I believe. Who knows what he may be able to do in the future....

Is he really contracted next year? I can’t fathom what WC’s rationale for list management has been. The amount of broken down overpriced hacks they have & almost nothing under 25 besides Allen.
