Then you're about to embark on one hell of a search for a lady.

Name 3.

And not "wow, i didn't think a woman could be that funny" funny, but genuine "i just squirted liquid out my nose" funny.

edit: I guess you were talking about funny in a more general human way. If so, then definitely.
Inclined to agree. I'm not saying that women aren't funny, I just don't know of any funny female comedians (comediennes?). The woman who played Elise Keaton on Family Ties had her moments...

Sarah Silverman
Tina Fey
Amy Sedaris
Mindy Kaling
Samantha Bee
Kristen Wiig
Amy Poehler

All very beautiful ladies that have almost made me pee my pants.

I think you're being misogynistic, MDC - Don't make me get Snag involved!

EDIT: Forgot Maria Bamford, who regularly almost makes me pass out.

Sarah Silverman - I do like her, but she's not what I'd describe as genuinely funny.
Tina Fey - Meh.
Amy Sedaris
Mindy Kaling
Samantha Bee
Kristen Wiig
Amy Poehler

I'll have to look up the others.

I should qualify by saying that I find very few people genuinely funny in general, male or female. They just all happen to be male.

As for being misogynistic,...I imagine most genuinely funny women would find it difficult to get famous, and therefore I would be ignorant of them. Have you seen Josie Long? Was going to check her out this year, but didnt get around to it. Kitty Flanagan went ok as well from memory.

I actually feel there should be a lot more women trying the Robin Williams/Kathy Griffith style of comedy, I think it suits the female voice better.

as an aside, did you see Kitson is returning early Oct? Pumped!

Off topic, perhaps? I'm not the thread police but i thought I was in the nest after i finished this thread...

You're actually correct about that, it's just that people like Hooper, Grant, and Morris are forced down our throats.

You know who the good female comedians are because they don't have to resort to sex jokes and men jokes etc to get a laugh.

oxymoron apart from maybe lisa lampanelli

I watched one of those celebrity roasts once, and some old bat absolutely dominated Williams Shattner???? I think.

Never laughed so hard.

that would be lisa

Hooper's got a very sexy quality - she stays on my list.

Funny women, alright. Amy Sedaris is perhaps the funniest person on the planet, funnier than her brother.

Judith Lucy is quite funny too. Ah, example - taking the piss out of Oprah whose wisdom included the observation that the sun rose in the morning and set at night, what Oprah called 'sun faith'. Lucy said "'sun faith'! Isn't that what the rest of us call a f*cking scientific fact."

Roseanne Barr I found very funny, except the very end episodes of Roseanne where she became a bit narcissistic.

The 'Elaine' character from Seinfeld.

Oh, no she ain't. :(

dude, your taste in female comedians is about as good as your taste in after shave ;)

Gentlemen prefer Old Spice, dudes prefer Lynx.

I wouldn't want to live with Judith Lucy, but she's a bit like Robin Williams for me - I don't love them but when I watch them I invariably laugh - against my will.

^ I cringe for about 10 mins and then change the channel... if I can last that long.

Julia Louis Dreyfuss is funny, but I'm basing that on Seinfeld and I don't know how much credit she can take for her lines. She's also not laugh-out-loud funny.

There was a British female comedian I thought was pretty funny once, but I can't remember her name. I should have, given what an oddity she was.

Maybe Tracey Ulman? She has her moments...

Dawn french is pretty good, not as funny as Alexei Sayle though for fat English comedians.

EDIT: I don't mean the vicar of Dibley either, I mean Comic Strip Presents...

Where the hell did this thread go..... lol
