This guy is not just a mid, recruiters think he will be more of a half forward because of his size. Saw one comparison as Gryan Myers and I think thats a good comparison for what he will look like at AFL level, at least initially. Has Sheezel like creativity. Classy ball users in our front half is 100% a need
I have slight PTSD from people saying the same about Erasmus, who has shown all the fwd nous of Alex Pearce to date.

I dunno, flat isn't how I would characterise this interview. Was about to post the opposite - that his old man seems genuinely happy for him and totally up for spending time in Perth. Not the usual concocted interview.
Yep agreed, he was fine, Richmond supporter and they passed him over which was undoubtedly disappointing. His dad was a hoot and it was interesting that he had already been to our facilities. Would be looking at the forward line and then midfield.

Had to be taken at our pick, he was the mvp for Vic Metro and all Australian for fsake. We need skill and goal kickers, he fits the bill.

Disappointing overall. Not because this kid won't be good, but it's not a need

I'd say about three quarters of non-KPPs with anything about them play midfield at some point in their draft year. The best players play midfield because that's where they can impact the game most. Doesn't mean that's where they'll end up.

Future Moo - here’s where you come to point out that the Murphy era started here and a lot of he’s not a small forward folks will have to own it.

High football IQ, can score and bloody great delivery …..I can live with it.

Surprised how many body language experts we have on here. People seeing what they expect to see from a Vic Metro mid. It's called priming.

Club has started to convince players to stay and he will find out how lucky he was to make it to Freo when he gets here.

Ollie Murphy just signed on for longer, so will this Murphy.

Just hope he isn't will Brodie and is Scott Pendulbury

Looks a real tidy player with a little bit of everything.

The constant creative handballs out of traffic in that video were amazing. And just when I was thinking he looked maybe a bit safe and vanilla, those shimmies out of traffic came along to make me go wow.

Reid is a bloody steal and I would have picked him behind Lindsay easily. For starters, he is a one touch player and doesn't fumble which is something we sorely lack. His handballing is elite, has confidence to take the game on and is a great finisher in front of goal. Reid barely kicked any set shots this season, most of his goals were from crumbing and creating opportunities out of nothing. His best trait is his agility and footy IQ. I am surprised he slid so far but this is a Wallzy special. Only downside is that he is a little on the small side.

Yep you are spot on, even Nick Watson wasn't playing permanent small forward when he was playing Coates league. Same reason barely any draftee's play wing but get molded into one at AFL level. Reid has the traits to be an elite half forward

I am very interested if we can get our hands on pre-season combine results for Reid as he was injured for the national combine. I have seen someone say he had 20m sprint times of 2.99, 3.00 and 3.20 seconds. Also, rookieme says "His leg speed is not quite elite, though he nearly pipped the three-second mark for the preseason 20-metre sprint".

Speed has been a knock on him but a 3 second 20m sprint is actually good and better/similar to someone like Berry who ran a 3.026 in pre season apparently. Freo also referenced his speed in their media post.

The biggest concern imo would be if he can't cope with the physicality of AFL with his small frame, but I'm very confident thats not an issue as many people flourish in the modern game with his size. It more so effects if he will eventually play midfield time or not
