respectfully disagree ... we took the best available talent. Like saying you shouldn't get Jhye Clark because he's emotionally attached to Collingwood. It's a pretty unique situation to have a 20 year old force his way out like that. It's also hard to gauge the maturity levels, a lot of kids flourish moving away from home, imagine not picking up Jonathon Brown because he played his footy down that way. But it's probably more of an issue now than then with kids just generally less resilient.
I would vehemently disagree that kids today are “generally less resilient”.

I would argue that kids are way better at dealing with the curveballs that life throws at them today than they were 20 years. There are so many more curveballs these days that they have to be more resilient. I am constantly amazed at how mature the teens I interact with are these days. Streets ahead of where me and my peers were when I was their age.

However, young people today are also much more inclined to back themselves and generally more confident and worldly. Consequently, they are far less deferential to authority and less inclined to accept a situation if they disagree with it. Thus, guys like O Henry, Bruhn, etc are less likely to accept that they have to stay in a situation when there is a better situation elsewhere that they can realistically get to. It is actually pretty cool that they are prepared to follow their own path even if it ruffles some feathers. More power to them.

It was in Sydney - i wasnt a member - i rang the Swans- and they didnt have any - and they suggested i ring Ansett - which i did

Got 1 of those packaged deal tickets - no change back from $1000 - unbelievable

And if you remember back then - there was that Pilot strike - so there was no planes - thus i had to catch a train down and of course pay for that ticket as well

Ha ha.
Well you will love this.
In 89 I was offered a seat in the lower level of the Olympic stand.

Unlimited beer. As in the mcg just kept filling a bin with beer and ice at the end of the row.
Only requisite was that I had to be on the ground pregame (which wouldn’t have bothered me)

I passed on that and watched it with friends instead.
A mate of mine didn’t pass up the offer.

Thanks I found that update grown 3cm since joining the pies he's looking better all the time.

The heights and weights aren’t listed by the clubs.
The players just fill out a form.

Josh Jenkins was on radio laughing about how he’d change it every year. Sometimes add 8kg etc.

A while later another players stats came up “how tall? 201? (He started laughing). I’ve played on him. I’m 198, he’s smaller than me. He’s 195 tops”

💯

+300 goal player
Might even go past Billy Brownless on goal tally, fingers crossed...
Who does he kick out of the best 23 cause I’d rather play Miers than Rohan

Suspect Rohan gets rested, managed through season... Who knows, they may even rest Hawkins a few games and experiment with a smaller setup with Jezza the main target in a few games and play Rohan and Henry as mid size marking targets. If they decide not to play Neale instead.

Miers will play many games, and is a good high half forward link up with his running patterns. He won't be out.

See O Henry playing half a dozen games or so in 2023, form dependent maybe more.

Someone will be hurt…or out of form….or managed…..or something else. Predicting who that will be is impossible and quite frankly a pointless exercise.

Having too many good players is never a problem and invariably the universe finds a way for good players to play.

i think we will also be surprised at the positions Ollie plays in. He is going to be used in more positions than just 3rd fwd.

Collingwood weren’t smart enough to develop his all around game, I suspect we will be much more savvy with his development as a versatile player.

Where i was sitting - hff - outer side Punt Rd end - Gary Dempsey and his son ( kid about 10) were sitting about 4 seats up from me

When i picked up the ticket - Friday night from the hotel/motel in Melb - the train got held up and got in late about 11pm - were they miseable giving me my GF Ticket - their body language was terrible - they gave it to me very reluctantly - they thought they had scored a free ticket - bear in mind i had paid nearly a grand - feck them i wanted my ticket

This is actually dead funny!

You right defend Geelong Football Club. Fair enough. Im defending a players right to choose and was a response to a collingwood supporter question Hernys resilience and hardness etc ..because he choose to leave after two year.. Choose to leave a club he never choose to join in the first place.

You defend the accusations against Geelong. I support you in this Geelong is mainly focusing on a weakness in the system that accentuates its strengths.

I support Henry in his right to move without accusations on his personality or character.

I wasn’t really defending or attacking players!! I was having a go at how clubs have reacted spurred on by the media no doubt with nothing much else to do. I wanted to highlight that the cats have for sometime now exposed themselves to the potential for players to leave by have a salary system that pays unders for senior players. That’s never mentioned by the media.

I support players moving. What I don’t like is disingenuous utterances as to their reasoning. Ollie Henry wanted to move, end of story. That’s his right. But the nonsense and constant attacks on him saying it wasn’t go home factor as he’s 45mins down the road was disgraceful. He wants to move, he moves if the deal can be done. It was. Pies supporters boo players pushed out of the doir with those who voluntarily leave alike. It’s nutsville. In that QF when booing Joel I got quite upset and did I belt out that bit of the song after “…how the game should be played…”. For my troubles a pie’s supporter threatened to deck me and his lovely wife went to spit on me, and this was in the members!! I’d noticed them all night but had no interaction till that point when he called me all sorts of things. But the crap going on during this trade period was next level.

That sucks! Not a great experience when someone wants to spit on you and deck you. Ridiculous lack of class.

Ollie is going to put on size. He'll be a bigger unit that his brother.

He could be a leading FF given time.

Id like us to do something with his conversion... everything else will take care of itself. His talent will almost demand his selection sooner or later..

Hawkins injury make ist interest early in 2023... Do we go with Neale or Henry. as that extra forward player. Neither are perfect Hawk replacements.
