Anyone worried about Watson should take a look at the Insta training footage:

He is a pocket dynamo - strong, quick and elusive. Doesn't mind physical contact and is very very good by foot and by hand. He looks ready to me - and he knows it.

He kinda looks like he could play the lead role in a jackass film

you can see he wants to give osullivan some lip & banter but pulls up just in time remembering he's a first year & to show respect.

come rd 1 he's going to be in the face of every essendon muppet he can find
Can just see him making that convicted drug cheat Heppell look stupid as he bangs home his third goal of the day. Glorious

In that little video of him, Harley Reid and that other well spoken ammos player messing around in the lead up to the draft, Watson's ability to stop/start and turn on an absolute dime literally left the others looking foolish.

For those ancient enough to get the reference, he's going to leave some defenders dazed and confused, with broken ankles like Larry Bird used to.

I agree with H00t (below). I'd throw him to HB for a run, not midfield. I think I've read that he's actually played a bit of HBF this season so the role/geography wouldn't be lost on him.
Some context to that... he played some off the back flank and wing for eastern as part of a strategy with his coaches to not get pigeonholed as a small forward in the hope it would maximise his draft stock.

For me, he never looked half the player further up the ground that he did deep forward. I think its a combination of his skill set being suited to the forward line, and his natural love of a goal and sticking it up his opponent.

Mind you, first AFL pre-season anything can happen.

I reckon he could be devastating in centre square cameos, a la Rioli. Probably not in his first season but once he builds his conditioning, we can let him off the leash when required.
