The club backed in a new and relatively young Sr coach the club backed him in to grow into the role and like a young player it’s not about what they do in day one it’s how they grow and learn to exploit the positive traits while also learning to improve on the missesI say lay off Yze.
Few players that were given premiership medals from our veterans are a little sad they can’t get their own way so they wanna pack up the bags and leave the club that blessed their lives….
So be it. Yze is our guy now, so let’s start backing him in.
Imagine the pressure the guy is under, he came into the club and tried to be respectful as possible to the past. The team had already been set in their ways having been coached under a structure for so many years.
He backed in Bolton and always praised him in the media. Baker too. Even allowed Graham a walk up start after putrid performances. Now they wanna leave and we are blaming Yze?
Bolton had good leaders around him early days. now that he is considered a leader himself, he is a culture killer. Imagine young kids coming in and seeing how easy Bolton gets to play footy.
Even Taranto has put the club on his back more than Bolton ever did. (Should have played him back pocket for the last few games of the year, earn those $$ like a Vlastuin)
Let's judge Yze on his 2nd year. Way too much has gone on that he couldn’t control and some of it will be a blessing in disguise…
Dimma, Bolton shat on us.
Baker and Graham got good deals, both considered moving when Dimma was coach.
let’s not be like the Port supporters. Give Yze a chance.
thats my take, id like our coach to grow with the players, build a bond and hit the finals in 4-5 years along with our young gun draft picks. The club backed in a new and relatively young Sr coach the club backed him in to grow into the role and like a young player it’s not about what they do in day one it’s how they grow and learn to exploit the positive traits while also learning to improve on the misses
Very few if any get it right the day they walk in the door and what will matter now is if Yze can take the criticisms on and grow from them and adapt
I like the fact he has a good bond with our younger players. That’s a positive in the right direction.thats my take, id like our coach to grow with the players, build a bond and hit the finals in 4-5 years along with our young gun draft picks.
He needs to gel with every player and the senior core as they become positive role models for the next generation. If he’s struggling now then he better shape up otherwise he will die very quickly as a coach. The kids are easy to get to toe the line unlike the senior guys.I like the fact he has a good bond with our younger players. That’s a positive in the right direction.
Think it’s too soon for judgement, but not too early for scrutiny. Dunno what gameplan could be faithfully implemented with our outs, but that he said its basically the same as the old one wasn’t reassuring.
Caracella helps there, but he’s an expensive addition & reckon we would’ve thought the new gaffer would drive that.
Also think there’s something to be said for the arse not completely falling out. We were bordering on plucky in most games after the midseason nadir. On the other hand, a number of clubs thought Bolton was gettable as early as May.
Wish him well, hope he receives the feedback (which isn’t great that it leaked) in the right way, adjusts but retains his personality (don’t think he should try to be Dimma 2.0), & he’s gotta stamp this team in 2025. By November it’ll be close to 40% of the list who only would’ve know him as their Richmond coach, so that needs to reflect in the way they play.
And, y’know, there’s a bit on the players too - bad if Bolton wasn’t adhering to rules etc but worse that nobody successfully pulled him into line. Dusty also phoned it in.
Certainly wouldn’t support gifting him an extension on the back of us gutting the list & bringing in 8-10 teenagers.
Would cop/ welcome a 2010 year, but absent lots of key injuries again, another 2024 would be rather concerning.
as far as im concered, if the senior players cant tow the line then the door is wide open.He needs to gel with every player and the senior core as they become positive role models for the next generation. If he’s struggling now then he better shape up otherwise he will die very quickly as a coach. The kids are easy to get to toe the line unlike the senior guys.

Good point re other sr players not pulling him into line as wellThink it’s too soon for judgement, but not too early for scrutiny. Dunno what gameplan could be faithfully implemented with our outs, but that he said its basically the same as the old one wasn’t reassuring.

Sort of like Dimma?... oh sorry you said missesThe club backed in a new and relatively young Sr coach the club backed him in to grow into the role and like a young player it’s not about what they do in day one it’s how they grow and learn to exploit the positive traits while also learning to improve on the misses

Not so sure about that, wasn’t he at Hawthorn when that rubbish happened? But I guess that wouldn’t suit your narrativeHe was also part of the Melbourne Tanking culture
Well said Spot onOf all the stuff rumoured and said the only guy really worth listening to is Gale. If you read between the lines it’s pretty obvious Yze wasn’t assertive enough this year and Gale himself was disappointed by that.. Any player can smell that from a mile away but especially premiership winning veterans. And so you see the drop off.
I am behind him and think we can rebound if we can get things right - but he needs to whip things into action quick smart.
In that case, it's no surprise that baker and Graham want to leaveWhich backs up what Vlaustin said at the start of the season. The senior players had pushed against Yze at the start of the season, due to them all only having been coached by Hardwick during there whole career & didn't want change.
I say he has with Broad ,Vlastuin, Balta ,Taranto etc. I think the issue is some didn't buy in and pulled the opposite way.He needs to gel with every player and the senior core as they become positive role models for the next generation. If he’s struggling now then he better shape up otherwise he will die very quickly as a coach. The kids are easy to get to toe the line unlike the senior guys.
Players like that you don't want dictate coaching etc that's not their job your there to play footy. Now we hear Baker and Graham will go to the Eagles as Mini got the job says a lot.In that case, it's no surprise that baker and Graham want to leave
The kids love Yze backs them in and gives opportunities also. That’s right they didn’t like change. Well good riddance to them.
I’d rather Erik Ten Hag as coach
