One of my earliest footy memories was being at the Western Oval wearing my sleeveless Saints jumper (#1 on the back) & a Dogs supporter butted a smoke out on my bare arm.

I was probably 10.
Is t it lovely to reminisce about the good old days, when life was simple? And pure.

See skinny ten year old arm.
Butt cigarette on it.

I probably made the mistake of cheering a Saints goal...

Which was a very rare event in 1983.
I applaud you for making the trip, taking the pain of those years - bless your ten year old St Kilda here! Bless all of us in those years. One thing I’ll say though,- and this maybe just a part of having youthful eyes - we always seemed to compete. We had patches…A Trevor Barker mark, a Jeff Sarai elbow, a Sidebottom mark, etc

One of hardest parts of being an 1980's St.Kilda barracking kid was when Waltzing Matilda was sung at school (which was very often in the 80's) and multiple kids would sing out at the top of their voices;

"Waltzing Matilda, BOOO FOR ST KILDA"

Which cut me to the bone.

Compounding the trauma was that fact that my primary school in the North Eastern suburbs was dominated by Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Fitzroy supporters... so the added chorus was sung by 95% of the male population of the school.

Teachers included!

Much, much worse ... if anything is left standing in Melbourne after the celebrations, we'll have made a miserable job of it.

I personally think this is the real reason the AFL cannot allow us any favours ... they fear the consequences of our dam wall breaking open :D
I told my wife several years ago, if we manage to jag a flag, wait for about 4 days before you think about reporting me as a missing person to the police.

And be sure to get them to look around the bars and clubs in the CBD for a semi-comatose, incoherent, but joyfully happy guy in Saints colours.

There's also a fair chance I'll think my luck has changed and may be found at the casino, trying to cash in!!

Think Macrae will be good for you guys. Hasn't lost the talent just the coaches favoured speed this year rightly or wrongly.

I think you've strangely got as many players from the 2016 flag as we do on the list which is sad.
Genuinely had me confused when I read this, for a second I forgot that Cordy was on our list and also that he played in your flag haha. That is strange, can’t believe that. 2016 doesn’t seem that long ago for you to have completely turned over your list.
