Toast Welcome to St Kilda Jake Carlisle

What player from yonder backline breaks?
'tis Jake and he majestically soars like an eagle
And clefts the pack in twain...
taking the game saving hanger at the 33 minute mark.

And the Cheer Squad cried "Oh Boydie, Boydie - where for art thou Boydie?"
But young Thomas was nowhere to be seen.
And as darkness descended upon the G
Through tears of pain they looked to the Gods and asked...
How the hell did we lose another Prelim to St Kilda?

Alas poor Boydie, we paid him well!
Oh, you want to play this!?! Alright then! :D How about a variation on Henry V's St Crispin's Day speech:

This day is call’d the Grand Finale
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say “To-morrow is Saint Kilda's Day.”
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say “These wounds I had on Kilda's Day.”
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Nicholas the Captain! Hickey and Webster,
A
rmitage and Weller, Membrey and Montagna -
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red!
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Kilda's victory shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world!
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in now beyond the finals
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap! whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Kilda's day!

And on that day we will ALL stand as brothers and sisters and recite that together on the fields of Moorabbin.

Book mark it!

Well then, allow me to add my bit of culture...

The new saint recruit they call jake,
On holiday some powder did take,
It snorts up his nose,
Over snapchat it goes,
I see it and think "oh, FFS!"

:)

Would like to see Carlisle and freeman in saints colours just doesn't feel official this happens after the draft? I've seen other recruits in their new clubs attire

I think there has been some hesitation around getting Jake into a Saints jumper, given circumstances discussed in another thread.

Our first to fourth year players are returning to the club in 4 days so we'll be seeing Freeman in the RW&B very soon!

Carlisle and the others will return on the 23rd so we'll have to wait a little longer for him.

Would be pretty happy to see Jake take it upon himself to join the 1st to 4th year players this year...

Jake to wear the famous #2 for St Kilda - worn (somewhat) recently by two current coaches at the Saints, Aaron Hamill and Spud Frawley.

Former Essendon swingman, Carlisle, will wear No.2 at the Saints, after the club allocated the 24-year-old the historic number made famous by the second longest serving captain in the clubs history, Danny Frawley, as well as another former captain, Aaron Hamill, Tony Brown and 1966 premiership player Brian Mynott.

Would love to see some photos of Jake in his Saints gear but they're pretty rare so far!

Apologies for the epic bump Kildonan but didn't know where else to put it.

One of our posters noticed Jake is coaching the backline at the Cannons. Club initiated move? Jake doing it himself?

Either way good to see him prepping himself for post football life IMO.

Its reassuring knowing somebody can coach at StKilda .
