I've been trying to wrap my head around this seIection, but I think the thing that Travaglia has that sets him apart, and I think it is a thing that that Wilson also has, is toughness and endeavour. He really pushes himself from contest to contest, and I reckon if he continues to bring that, he'll be a solid, maybe even better than solid AFL footballer. It is very interesting that we selected him above Tauru, who by the eye seems to have more natural talent/ a higher ceiling.

He is built like a rake but he is a lot tougher than he looks, like Wilson who got knocked down last season and just kept on going.

A couple of energizer bunnies.

Just went and had a watch of his game against Vic Metro and I'm sold on him now. Looks super explosive and marshalled the backline extremely well. Also took some fantastic marks with the game on the line. We've definitely got a good one here, especially if he's bought into Ross' vision.
Side note - that 50 paid against him at the end is just about the worst I've ever seen. If that happened in an AFL match the umpire would be hung, drawn and quartered before you could blink.

Forgive the intrusion. I've had a lot to do with Tobie this year.
Please see a social media post and video I created for Tobie:

From that interview it sounds like he will fit in well with Ross and the other young guys at the club that push elite training standards judging from him pushing after being rejected.

Tobie explains his impression of the free kick in Dylan's podcast, didn't sound like much, and watching the vision... yeah pretty ordinary call.

I like the kid, appears to be a competitor and of good character

I’m 100% on board, just think he’ll fit right in amongst Wilson, Nasiah and Windy types.

Seems a leader, seems physical, has great hustle, positional flexibility, can intercept mark and has goal sense.

I was iffy at first, but I really think this was the right choice in the end given the lay of the land. Same goes for the Viking. Wouldn’t have taken Reid or Allan or Lindsay over these two.

Welcome TT.
Hope you follow in the footsteps of some other famous blondes who have played for the red, white and black.

I like that he had to really work hard to get here after some initial disappointment. Shows resilience, perseverance and a great work ethic. Coupled with obvious talent and potential leadership and he should go far.

Got one of my favourite photos of Tobie during this game:

Jeez the red, white and black fixes everything.

Welcome to St Kilda Tobie!

Like Darcy Wilson and Brad Hill, Tobie has that precious mix of elite endurance and top end speed. He prides himself on running quicker for longer, and I’m certain he will have an immediate impact at the club.

I think we will all be very happy with this selection in the fullness of time.

Hope he's a willing sort of player that doesn't mind getting in the opposition's face.

From RookieMe website:

Travaglia’s most admired footballer and the player he has drawn similarities to is Hawthorn young gun Will Day – who he models his game on. However, he has also been likened to Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard, Fremantle’s Hayden Young and Melbourne’s Trent Rivers – players who are all known for their work off half-back, but also have the attributes to move into the midfield either as part of a rotation or a permanently.

A mix of those 4 players sounds pretty handy; probably a reach but it is what it is. Seems to be a fairly confident sort too, he reminds me of Brent Rambo, hopefully someone at training gets him to give us the thumbs up soon:

A real Ross Lyon special. Grabbed the player who can run the fastest for the longest. As soon as Misson came out with his spiel about picking players who suit the game style it was obvious Travaglia was in our scope. Here's hoping the rymp wasn't overruled
