Was handy depth but with Narkle coming in along with Bolton he doesn't get a game.
Is Narkle that much different to Emmett? He’s a skinny meh player. Emmett provides grunt and tackling. But fair enough, his form in WAFL isn’t cutting it

His game against the Hawks last year showed a lot of promise. But then nothing.

Playing 13 games and being a regular starter to being delisted in the same season is quite the fall. He even got three goals in his second last game

We're getting Phil Narkle in to help out??
AWESOME, I always wanted to see someone running around for us with a purple helmet on!!

Hopefully Keithy will be in there helping out with coaching too!

Oh wait.
You mean we delisted Emmers just so we could bring in... Ohhhhhhh.
wow.

Would liked to have seen him succeed but he simply had little to no composure. Never looked comfortable with the ball in hand after a promising start (2023). Not sure about Narkle. Waste of a list spot

Keith & Phil >>>>> Peter Ware >> Kevin Caton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Quentin.

Keith & Phil = smooth operators.

Scanning the socials today it feels like a lot of crossover between the people who wanted him dropped throughout the season and the people now complaining about the decision to delist him.
He had a few errors in games this year that screamed "delist at the end of the year". Nearly on the Josh Head level of brain fades. But then he kept getting picked.

Still would have kept him over Worner. Why delist a developing player in an area of need and keep a dud in an area of surplus?

He kept on getting picked because we had nobody else.

Because Worner's in contract, and also is younger than and about on par with Emmett as a player. Certainly at WAFL level Worner has been superior, and at AFL level I think they both range btwn liability and solid hand depending on the game. Only difference is Emmett plays a position we had nobody in, and Worner plays a position where James Aish got dropped.

Every so often you'll get "How can Freo afford to do XYZ salary cap wise? They must be chockers by now!" comments. And while there's a range of answers to that, 1 answer is we don't do dumb shit like pay a player out a year of salary just to accommodate a different likely flop.

Sliding doors moment was that Jayden Laverde run down tackle against the Dons which, if adjudicated in the same way as the sling tackle on Young vs GWS, might have resulted in a shot on goal and consequently a spot in the eight, but alas there went our season and Emmett’s time in purple along with it.
