I thought he moved to Melbourne because his girlfriend was an actress who wanted to get more roles.

Sold Lycett at the top (pick 20), bought Hickey at the bottom (pick 39 with returns).

He doesn't have to be outstanding, with our midfield, just do his role and counter balance Vardy,
can run into space well, clunk overhead marks and kick the odd goal..good enough.

FWIW, when you consider the late pick swaps, values Hickey @ ~pick 52.
That's chicken feed for an average AFL ruckman.

A big benefit is not having to go up against Naitanui.

In an ideal world he is serviceable until late in the year when Naitanui returns and Hickey leads our seconds to a flag.

Will be good cover for the year until Nic Nat is back and then as injury cover for the following years. As it's been well documented, he's not a great tap ruckman, but I think we can probably turn him into something like we did with Lycett, a very defensive ruckman under the guidance of Nic Nat. From what I understand, he's great at covering ground, so between him and Vardy we should be able to run the opposition ruckman to the ground and really look to exploit that late in games.

Is Roughead a better RUCK than Zac Clarke (...understanding he's a better KPD)?

Tough one. I'd probably rate Zac Clarke slightly better in ruck duties than Roughead. But that's basically his only win over Roughead.

Roughead has 15kg on him, gets around the ground better, is more versatile (can play back) and most importantly is far more reliable as an overall package (less injury prone).

Given either player would be purely depth for us: Roughead >>>>>>> Zac Clarke.

He suits you perfectly. And age aside, is probably 1/2 the price of lycett.

Perhaps one man on top of the others shoulders, then handball up to the guy on top. Technically can't tackle the guy at the bottom. Walk into goal. tap through. Rinse repeat.

The club has my faith, they know what they are doing and we haven’t lost anything here. A mature ruckman who is going to gave the absolute best environment and help getting the best out of himself under a master coach and staff which he probably hasn’t had before. Happy to back him in to fill the gap next year.
