The club has my faith, they know what they are doing and we haven’t lost anything here. A mature ruckman who is going to gave the absolute best environment and help getting the best out of himself under a master coach and staff which he probably hasn’t had before. Happy to back him in to fill the gap next year.

Maybe Roughead is viewed as cover for defense primarily? We are pretty thin on key defensive stock.

That’s what I have heard with EZY retiring it gives us a player who can ply KPD next year if needed .

Reports are Bulldog Jordan Roughead is heading West as well, Thoughts?

I fully support grabbing both. We need the depth and I assume we can get Roughead for a packet of chips and a choc milk in a trade with the dogs (must avoid FA).

At least Hickey/Vardy aren't walk up starters and it'll inspire a bit of healthy competition in the ruck stocks again.

We need to plan for the worst and assume Nic Nat doesn't return to full capacity in 2019.

Is Roughead a better RUCK than Zac Clarke (...understanding he's a better KPD)?

Dunno!! Got some reasonable moves but hes that gangly ,awkward type of player and i dont know about his movement around the ground; Haven't seen enough of him.Is he as physical as Lycett or does he bring more in terms of genuine ruck craft? I think the contest from our big men has been more important to our success than actual ruck craft. Then again i questioned Petrie coming over and he gave it his all!

On stats alone he's a pretty decent like for like fit

Yep and thats playing for the Saints who were hot garbage this year.

We might we get Roughead for a packet of chips and that way even if we get injuries we keep our tall structure.

Since Ezy is gone and NN has had double ACLs by the end of 2018 our next cab off the rank were sub 10 rookies and that will continue for most of 2019.

I watched some highlights when he played for the Gold Coast and he certainly took a lot of strong overhead marks that day and was a decent kick.

The reality is that there aren't too many ruck options out there and Hickey can play. I don't think we ever saw the best of Lycett, except in patches, so I am hoping Hickey can provide the same consistent output as Lycett.
