Compairng a 36 year old bloke who had finished playing to Tim Kelly is stretching it far even for nuffie WCE posters.

The similarities would be that it was a highly publicized break of contract that was high on the media agenda. This was a high profile signing when he came here.

The difference is we let him go home and even though it was widely reported the return home was being pushed forward by the wife for family reason we let him go and the wife recived NO abuse. I repeat the wife received NO abuse.

Not even close to comparable and to even suggest it is shows how strongly you are grasping those straws, and how little in touch of reality you are.

Hey?

What has this go to do with homesickness?

Bit early to be on the turps isn't it?
The two situations are comparable

Two players holding their current clubs over a barrel - One as he wants to go home - one as he wants to go to another club.

Both threatened to walk into the draft.

If you cant join the dots there maybe stick to bouncing balls.

The only thing not the same is homesickness. Which seeing as the thread isnt about homesickness - nice desperate lunge - fail.

No, i'm sorry but it's a fail from you.

The only reason i brought it up was because i was wondering what would happen.

Go read my posts, then come back and tell me what Luke Ball has to do with what i was wondering.

No don't because i know you will come back with some lame arsed reason why Ball is comparable, the fact of the matter is he has got not 1 thing in common with being homesick.

What are the objective facts here?
Freo: Ruled out due to issues with Lyon / ruled out as couldn't offer same salary as Eagles / other?
WCE: Offered up three low 20"s picks as their best offer?
Geelong: Wanted a top ten-ish pick, would definitely have pulled the trigger on Freo offer pick 11/14 plus maybe another lower pick?)?

In terms of the media, the Kelly camp did itself no favours, his partner in particular. It might be true that the Cats haven't supported them as well as they should have, but their track record points more in the opposite direction.
They are also normally reasonable (and in some cases maybe too generous) in trade deals.
Reckon the two sides just valued it differently. Would have taken the WCE final offer if I were the Cats but you can see at the wage he'll be on and this year's output why they might baulk.

What is your point? Luke ball made it to his club of choice in the draft. Doesnt mean kelly would.

This situation with Tim Kelly is a joke.
His missus complaing about Geelong saying they didn't give them enough support.

Well she and he didn't have to have 3 kids if they couldn't handle it, he didn't have to choose his career as a national game and nominate for a draft if he wanted to stay in WA and he didn't have to publicly trash Freo if he needed to get home so bad.

FACT is Geelong paid him more money than he's ever made in his life and gave him an opportunity that he had missed out on for years.
******* entitlement of the players these days is unreal

Yeah would’ve thought it would’ve been Tim and his partners job to support their family. And that by employing Tim, Geelong are more than doing their bit.

Strangely sam mitchell said his family really struggled in perth without their support network. Hes cut his contract short as well

Wouldnt take a job based in melbourne with us - has gone back to the hawks.

We of course wish him well and didnt hold him to his contract despite being an absolutely critical piece of our midfield puzzle.

Shutup.

I think we can all agree players hold too much power these days with the ridiculous rules we have in place that gives all the power to players. Contracts mean nothing these days... Perhaps until now...

Kudos to Geelong for finally taking a stand and not allowing players and player managers dictate their fate.

Hopefully this swings the favour somewhat back with the club and other teams follow suit.
Mmmm so you are applauding your club for forcing disaffected players to remain at the club????

Interesting.

That was always going to happen with Mitchell. Clarkson sent the prodigal son off to another club to experience life at a different club before returning to the Hawks.

You can not compare a player to an assistant coach.
